"With the current demand we can easily supply the global market. We have a couple of million doses in bulk that we can put into vials and make sure that the current outbreak is handled," he told AFP in an interview.

Bavarian Nordic has an annual production capacity of 30 million vaccine doses.

The Danish company's smallpox vaccine, marketed as Imvanex in Europe, Jynneos in the US and Imvamune in Canada, is a third-generation serum (a live vaccine that does not replicate in the human body).

It has been licensed in Europe since 2013.

For many of the confirmed cases, health officials don't know how the person caught the virus. Those infected haven't traveled or come into contact with another infected person. That means the virus is spreading in some communities and cities, cryptically.

"The fact that we can't reconstruct the transmission chain means that we are likely missing a lot of links in that chain," Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist at Brown University, says. "And that means that those infected people haven't had the opportunity to receive medicines to help them recover faster and not develop severe symptoms.

"But it also means that they're possibly spreading the virus without knowledge of the fact that they're infected," she adds.

NYC waiting for additional doses of monkeypox vaccine after high demand exhausts supply

Officials say the clinic won't be able to offer additional appointments for the shots or provide service to walk-ins.

Last week, people waited for hours in long lines outside the Chelsea Sexual Health Clinic.

DALLAS - Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported the county’s first locally transmitted case of monkeypox.

The confirmed monkeypox case was in an out-of-state visitor who was in town for the Daddyland Festival over the July 4th weekend.

I follow the news with interest, is that so strange in a current events forum?

The Marburg thing is striking because it popped up in a place where it usually doesn't, but I'm confident that's taken seriously enough that there'll be an adequate public health response. The polio thing is dreckeffect, there's probably an antivaxxer to blame there, but I doubt it'll get around like monkeypox.

So no, not stressing about Marburg or Polio. I'm old enough to have been vaccinated for variola, but I might consider a boost or a monkeypox jab, whichever comes first. Community spread in Travis County has been confirmed.

I'm responding to Snacks. Marburg and polio aren't worrisome to me. I'm not worried about monkeypox either, but I'll take of advantage of available protection, I'd rather not get it.

    You?

But perhaps you'd like to acquire natural immunity instead.
