The first college basketbaler to make an impact in the NFL was Niner receiver R.C.Owens. He played b-ball at Idaho.
He and Hall of Fame (to be) QB were the first to use the ...Alley Oop...pass as a legit weapon. tle would just throw it up high and Owens would out jump everyone for the ball.
There was a game where the opposition was going to try a long field goal, the thought process was....it might just make it barely.....so they put Owens back there to block it, yep....jump up and bat the ball down....hahahaha!!!!!!!

Owens was a trail blazer of another supremely athletic move. But it was one that was barred from the game.
In 1962, the 6-foot-3 Owens wowed fans by standing under the goal post at the goal line (goal posts have since been moved to the back of the end zone) and leaping to block a long, line-drive field-goal attempt by the Washington Redskins. The tactic was legislated out of existence.
