It'll probably be leaked late tonight and officially announced tomorrow...very smart play, because I expect the speech by Obama tonight to be HUGE.

Apparently Pawlenty cancelled a couple meetings at the last minute, so that could be a clue.

    Could it be Pawlenty?

Trust me, Evangelicals equate Mormons with a cult. They respect Jews; after all they own the original covenant with God. Romney finished WAY down in the bible belt for a reason. I was raised Catholic, and now attend a relatively charismatic protestant church. Catholics see Mormons as just another non-Catholic denomination; protestants see it very differently Romney would alienate Christians more than Lieberman, and, yes, Chump, specifically BECAUSE he is Mormon.
    This is true.

Except for the Evangelicals for Jews. They believe the Jews have to mass-convert to Christianity in Israel in order for the end-times/rapture to happen. No lie.

This is a crucial pick for McCain, despite lukewarm feelings surrounding his choice, for two reasons:

    1) McCain's age. Hopefully not, but he could be incapacitated in office.
    2) McCain has claimed to be running for one term. VPs are often audition slots and 4-yrs is a quick turnaround.

His VP stands a much higher chance of getting into the top office than usual, if McCain wins. Few of his choices seems ready for the office at this point, and Pawlenty appears downright lightweight. That Alaskan hottie Sarah Palin barely has experience at all.

That Alaskan hottie Sarah Palin barely has experience at all.
Well, she has tons more experience than Nobama.

    from wiki: Sarah Palin:
    Pre-gubernatorial political experience

Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska City Council from 1992 to 1996. In 1996, she challenged the in bent mayor, criticizing wasteful spending and high taxes. The ex-mayor and sheriff tried to organize a recall campaign, but failed. Palin kept her campaign promises, reducing her own salary, as well as reducing property taxes 60%. She ran for reelection against the former mayor in 1999, winning by an even larger margin. Palin was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.

In 2002, Palin made an unsuccessful bid for Lieutenant Governor, coming in second to Loren Leman in a four-way race. After Frank Murkowski became governor (resigning his long-held U.S. Senate seat in mid-term), Palin interviewed to be his possible successor, but Murkowski appointed his daughter, then-Alaska State Representative Lisa Murkowski.

Then-Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she served from 2003 to 2004 -- until resigning in protest over what she called the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest. After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners (who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail). Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.

In 2006, Palin, running on a clean-government campaign, executed an upset victory over then-Gov. Murkowski in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Despite the lack of support from party leaders and being outspent by her Democratic opponent, she went on to win the general election in November 2006, defeating former Governor Tony Knowles. Palin said in 2006 that education, public safety, and transportation would be three cornerstones of her administration.

When elected, Palin became the youngest governor in Alaskan history (42 years old upon taking office), and the first woman to be Alaska's governor. Palin was also the first Alaskan governor born after Alaska achieved U.S. statehood. She was also the first Alaskan governor not to be inaugurated in Juneau, instead choosing to hold her inauguration ceremony in Fairbanks. She took office on December 4, 2006.

Highlights of Governor Palin's tenure include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans. Palin successfully killed the Bridge to Nowhere project that had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending. "Alaska needs to be self-sufficient, she says, instead of relying heavily on 'federal dollars,' as the state does today."

She has challenged the state's Republican leaders, helping to launch a campaign by Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell to unseat U.S. Congressman Don Young and publicly challenging Senator Ted Stevens to come clean about the federal investigation into his financial dealings. Palin supports holding occasional legislative sessions outside the state capital, and municipal revenue sharing to help local governments.

Here's something you lib s might respect about Palin:

Palin's first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to gay state employees and their partners. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with Alaska's attorney general on the cons utionality of the legislation.

Palin hasn't been governor for even two years. Before that she was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, all of 5,469 people. Whatever may come of the alleged ethics violation, she seems to be a decent governor, but she simply is not seasoned for the role of Veep. Keep it in your pants.

    OMG...

She's at least holding an executive position. She has a solid record of vots and actions.

How can anyone think Obama is more qualified than she is? Are you a sexist?

    What has Obama done?

Well, under this theory former mayor Ed Garza is even more qualified than Palin (longer term as mayor, much larger city).

    So...Garza>Palin>Obama?

Leiberman is the smart choice...it'll make McCain's Maverick rep sound like more than just bull ....I doubt he does it though.

Ultimately I don't think it matters who McCain picks...he's much more likeable than Bush, his running mate will be more likeable than Cheney, and those guys were good enough to win last time against a traitor, and now the Democrats have brilliantly nominated a guy named Hussein.

Insert stupid "it doesn't matter what his name is whottt" comment right here....and then kill the messenger. Sure...Hussein doesn't matter, just like Kerry's anti-war past didn't matter...it's just that Bush was so damn likeable, and charismatic.

I think it is a risky move by McCain to pick Gov. Palin as his VP. If he really thinks that just by picking a woman for his VP that he'll the Hillary vote he's sadly mistaken. Women are not that shallow not to see through it.
Pawlenty is out and so is Romney so my prediction was wrong. It does happen a few times a year.

Did you read her bio/going after her OWN party -clening it up, whistleblowing...he'll make the argument that they are cut from the same cloth: "TWO MAVERICKS" - can see it now.

Also, to have risen so high, so fast, I'm betting she's got charisma and charm. If this is the choice, it could fill several gaps for McCain, and not just "a Woman".
