Avery back to NY.
His new coach, John Tortorella, who said this a few weeks a go as an analyst to TSN
The Rangers have changed coaches since Avery last suited up for them. Tom Renney was fired last week and replaced by Tortorella, who, while working for Canadian television, rebuked Avery at the time of his suspension.
"Enough is enough," Tortorella said then. "He's embarrassed himself, he's embarrassed the [Stars'] organization, he's embarrassed the league and he's embarrassed his teammates, who have to look out for him. Send him home. He doesn't belong in the league."

go hockey!!!!!
wings put a little streak together and they could pull out another presidents trophy, would not have though that a couple months ago with the say the sharks have been, but they seem to be struggling a bit as of late.
wings are in trouble next year they will have to give up some good players to stay under the cap
When is Hossa coming back from his injury ??
Although the Caps have been known as a high-scoring, run n' gun team, lately they are starting to play better defense especially with Theodore bringing up his save percentage
as evidenced by gutsy, grind-it-out wins over Nashville and Philly.
The Cup run starts here.
Caps are fun to watch (man, who scored that goal while he was on his knees recently, Semin or Backstrom?), but this is not their year.
Next season or in 2 years.
I think they can win it all IF they do not meet the Bruins along the way. The Caps always have trouble with Boston and it was Alexander Semin with that wicked goal.
If the Habs meet the Bruins in the playoffs, then you won't have to worry about Boston.
the B's are way ahead of us in the standings, but we own them in the playoffs.
Even in 2002 and 2004, with the 8th and 7th seeds respectively, we kicked them out (and they had Thornton)
Congratulations to Martin Brodeur for gettting win #552 last night, making him the NHL's all time winningest goaltender. He did it in 42 less games than it took Patrick Roy to be the former holder of that le.
Anyone see another goalie coming down the road in the future to take the crown away from Marty?
Marty tied Roy's record in Montreal on Saturday with win 551.
Perfect scenario:
- Roy won 2 Stanley Cups with Montreal; Roy was there to congratulate him; classy
- Brodeur is from Montreal
- he received a great standing ovation feom the Montreal crowd
- his father, Denis Brodeur, is a former photographer for the Montreal Canadiens; he was in the Bell taking pictures of win 551
- the Habs for not being motivated to spoil the party; no show
FWIW, Patrick Roy has more shutout wins than Marty
He also has 1 more cup
Now to answer your question:
- Luongo can have a shot at the record, IF he can stay healthy
- a young goaltender named Steve Mason is making noise in the NHL
- a young Montreal Canadien....no, not Carey Price, but Jaroslav Halak![]()
Not for long. Brodeur is only 10 or so shy of taking over the #1 all time list in shutouts as well.
If you include Marty's playoff stats, hes #1 by a wide margin.
I think if San Jose beats Detroit in the playoffs, New jersey will win the Cup. Just my opinion.
Indeed! That kid is sick. Hes 19 frickin years old, too. Hes an absolute stud, we see flash in the pan goaltenders every year in the NHL, but this kid looks to be the all world goaltender he seems to be. Every time I see him play, its the Steve Mason Show. Good luck scoring...- a young goaltender named Steve Mason is making noise in the NHL![]()
Interesting; I think too that NJ has a chance to win it as long as they don't meet the Red Wings
Devils are great this year; Zach Parise has exploded, the team has found a way to win a lot of games while Brodeur was injured, and they brought back Shanahan, an additional scorer who knows the culture of the franchise
Heck, he scored a lovely goal in his 1st game back with NJ
And now Brody is back....
Speaking of shutouts, since when is 66 > 101? Broduer only needs 3 more to pass Sawchuk's 103.
And Rinne has been better than Mason IMO.
In my world, 66 > 101
This is my damn imagination, I can do whatever I want in it; hey, I can fly...
LOL, at least you admit it.
You really think so? Dont get me wrong, Ive seen him play a few times (outside of playing Detroit) and have come away impressed.
But this Mason kid (as you well know) is just dominating. Theyre both big goaltenders, take up a lot of space, both are extremely quick. But Mason just wins more, I guess.
I know thats more a product of having a better team (who knew Columbus would be better than Nashville?), but IDK, I'd kill for either as a Wings fan.
I hope Red Wings won't meet Nashville in the playoffs
They seem to be having their way with Detroit this season.
Oh, and Carey Price sucks major donkey ass
I do think so. Rinne faces more shots and has a weaker offense in front of him. Mason has 5 more wins, but he also has started 11 more games. Rinne also has 7 shutouts, only 2 less than Mason.
Too excellent young goalies in the mold of Jimmy ing Howard.
Andrei Markov out 3 weeks
Mathieu Shneider out for the rest of the season
you Toronto Maple Leafs![]()

Sorry to hear that.
Thanks man![]()
The Flyers still have a shot at making the playoffs.![]()
Although they eliminated Montreal last season, the Flyers re my second favorite team.
1. they are built for the playoffs
2. they find ways to win games even when missing key players
