I can't believe that saftey couldn't freakin catch the damn ball.
here comes 10 years of nonstop tech -talking. get out your earplugs because its going to be annoying as .
I can't believe that saftey couldn't freakin catch the damn ball.
tech was the better team tonight. Defensively they played balls out.
Texas should have taken a knee on 2nd and goal, but that was just my crazy thinking.
Texas had their chances, Tech finished. Good job.
cant believe the other safety didnt help out and get crabtree he was there just trotting over like no big deal
2ndary saved leach's team from the usual collapse ala osu. props for tt ready to play from the beginning but ill take it this way it 9pts were freebie and ut couldnt afford that
. Tech opened a can of whoopass, almost choked it away, and then sealed the game in one of the best UT/Tech games I can remember. Great game sand aggies. Now lose to OU or OSU. Please.
Losing to both would be better for we UT fans.![]()
nevermind all the holding and illegal hands to the face that TT got away with tonight. the refs were horrible on both sides....in fact the Big 12 officiating has sucked all year. despite the officiating, both teams put forth a tremendous effort and an exciting and memorable game.
props to TT on the win.
HOOK EM HORNS.
i knew UT would come back no matter what and make a play that would make Tech make a play. (lolz if you know what i mean) i just got back from it all and that was a crazy atmosphere. best athletic event ive ever been to.
i was pleased with how we were able to sustain long drives not only this year but in this game with our spread offense. that was the difference imo. but anyway gg, (and going to Norman scares the out of me)
In two weeks, people will look back at this game and remember it as the game that Tech needed every second on the clock to beat the #1 team in the NCAA and only made it up to #2.
stupid !
yeah thats called #2! Where the is your team at ?????
and normally when you are ranked lower than the number ONE team in the country...........EVERY ING SECOND COUNTS! YOU ARE A DUMBASS!
There are two etched-in-stone football truths in this world, and Texas broke one of them.
1. Defense wins championships.
2. Playing a white defensive back will always bite you in the ass.
Of course every tech fan knew the horns would come back......but TECH finally shut them the up!
GUNS UP!
f - you!
That joint looked like an insane asylum - I especially liked all the Joker makeup in the student section. The TV guys kept talking about how loud and crazy it was there. I've been there during the tortilla years and it was pretty rowdy then. Last night must have been a frickin' zoo.
UT was lucky to keep it as close as it was, with a pick-six (yeah, I hate that term too) and a safety given up on offense and around 600 yards given up on defense. That Raider running game really makes a difference. Tech barely attempted to run the last couple of years against UT and even with Harrell putting the ball in the air 50+ times last night, Leach ran the ball, what, 25 snaps? I bet they got more yards on the ground than the Longhorns did.
I think Tech will struggle more with Okie State next week than they will in Norman. All speculation aside, my congrats to the Prairie Pirates. They gave it away late and took it right back - Gideon's drop notwithstanding.
Tech outhustled and physically manhandled our offense last night.
The defense got tired early due to the feeble play of our offense. We had 2 minutes of possession 18 minutes into the game. Then Cosby, Orakpo, and Roy Miller all get injured. Orakpo getting injured is like tying one hand behind the defense's back. But after that horrible horrible performance we still had three chances to win this game. And we blew all three.
ut's d has given up points so it was bound to catch up with them but giving away 9pts to the tt d didnt help.
white defensive back? may have dropped that sure pick but how about the other 2 black guys that were torched all night and the last play was brutal the other safety just walking over there and the db doesnt know how to cover on a last second bomb
enjoy your championship game for the season.
Tech and UT each had 28 snaps characterized as runs. Texas gained 80 yards on those 28 snaps; Tech gained 105 yards on those snaps. But Batch and Woods each averaged better than 4.5 yards per carry, which honestly amazed me.
I noticed that the Tech o-line, which has kept notoriously huge splits for years, seemed to play something closer to the traditional 2 foot splits last night. It really surprised me that Tech could close down their splits like that and still effectively run the ball against that UT front. But I also think that Tech effectively wore out the UT front early; over the first couple of drives, Texas got consistent pressure on Harrell, who was sacked at least once, pressured several other times, and hurried or forced to evade on a few other downs. But after about the 5 minute mark of the first quarter, Texas really seemed to struggle with putting on pressure (particularly in the first half) and Harrell had all kinds of time to read the defense.
With all of that, why so much bitterness towards Tech from Longhorns fans? It's not like Baylor or Iowa State won that game last night. Tech might not be Oklahoma, but somehow I suspect that UT fans would be less bitter if that loss had been at Stillwater instead of Lubbock.
Texas Fan's perception of Tech Fan is a classless hooligan in a dirt-caked F-150 with their Greek letters, a double T, and a Rebel flag decals on the back window, drinking Kentucky Deluxe out of a Jack Daniel's bottle, a Copenhagen can in each back pocket, calling everyone in different colors a sucker and a mother er, looking for singles and pairs to go jump with the rest of his spring pledge class after the game.
And I'm sure they think of us as oxford and khaki pantywaists with Denali's full of Heineken.
I'm really pissed off how that guy basically got orakpo in a choke hold and twisted him around letting his lower body just dangle and wait for another hit like that.
Orakpo got injured last year in the first game by someone taking out his knees on a block, now this . He's probably done for the year with a ed up ACL or MCL. I'd rather we get blown out by 50 points and have Orakpo healthy. Him being out puts the entire season in jeopardy IMO.
it really was, luckily i got to sit right by the tunnel where UT comes out at.
i yelled most of the time but nothing too harsh to any of the UT players except for one player that i hate. Dan Buckner.
he KILLED our high school in football and i knew he was only a freshmen, so as soon as i saw him i poked my head under the curtain and screamed "You're out of your league Buckner!" he actually turned around cause he was really only a few feet away. i mean most of the UT players were smart and ignored me and #37 (Melton?) just looked up and laughed at me. Buckner did drop his first ball thrown at hi though, he's only a freshmen. im smart enough to know that heckling usually doesnt effect players especially #1 UT but its obvious he heard me and he's probly not used to getting individually heckled like that cause he's only a freshman so was it I that actually rattled him?
who knows.
a couple of other stories, i collected, was two hours before the game there was a guy sitting on the other side of the tunnel from me with his burnt orange and a UT afro with white and orange on. he was standing up making himself known that he was a fan sitting in the middle of the student section, so it didnt take long for everybody to notice him. it started from individual heckling, to "kick his ass" chants, to throwing ice at him, throwing other stuff at him, (i didnt throw anything im not a ) somebody actually came up behind took his hat off, racked him in the balls, then ran off with his hat, and then later he gets drenched when somebody nails him with a beer cup.
then a cop comes, and his friend then gets hit with a water bottle. the guy gets pissed and throws it back and then the cop IMMEDIATELY ESCORTS HIM OUT?! then later the UT guy gets escorted out. there were probly three or four UT fans who were escorted out of our section before the game even started. they didnt do anything wrong, so i dont understand what went on there
They did that by committing about six hundred holding penalties per linesman, none of which were called during the game.
I really have no vested interest in UT winning a national championship other than the fact that I live 20 minutes outside of Austin and want to go to NC parties again. Have you ever been to a national championship celebration party? They're pretty bad ass. But I doubt they would be as bad ass if a team from a dry county won a NC.
