"Donnie Walsh is familiar with Al Harrington, a player he has already acquired twice and could bring aboard once more.

The thinking is that Harrington would fit Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system because he can run the floor and spot up behind the arc.

The Knicks are said to be dangling Eddy Curry but a third team may need to be involved to make the trade happen.

The San Antonio Spurs are desperate for additional scoring and may feel they can revive Curry's career by placing him next to Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. But it is unclear who the Spurs would send to the Warriors in such a deal.

The Warriors are reportedly asking for David Lee to complete a straight two-team trade with New York."
Whoever wrote that article is an idiot.

Spurs dont have problems scoring. They need defense, rebounding, and blocked shots, which Curry supplies none of that.

I am forced to watch the Knicks on a regular basis.

Eddie Curry is fat and slow and easy to defend, because he does the same deliberate dribble-dribble, turn moves right under the hoop.

And he can't score unless he is literally under the hoop.

Oh, and he doesn't block shots.

Imagine a fat Oberto with much less basketball IQ, making a heckuva lot more.

    P.S.

We have 0 assets to trade.

It's typical to look to the negatives right away, but lets examine the positives.

1.) He has the ability to finish with authority, and efficiently, something which I and others have complained about in regards to the post and in general. We lack this heavily.

2.) Post droughts can be contained with Timmy out to an extent, i'm not saying he'll be the man, but he can take some pressure off. As it stands he'd be the second best post option immeadiately.

3.) He's a big Body, something we lack in the frontcourt aside Timmy. It's understandable he isn't an excellent defender, or an excellent rebounder, but he can do a little of both. The give is that he's a better Offensive player. He's strong, and he doesn't have to play forty minutes.

4.) Our guards. He'll get easy looks with Tony and Manu. These are better guards in comparison to others he has played with. With him being around these players, not to mention Timmy, he'll be more efficient. His body makes him able to get his own misses since he shoots typically 5 and in to begin with. But, he won't have to work as hard.

5.) He has been on teams with coaching, and management. None of this is indicative of our organization.

6.) He has been over rated, and thus his shortcomings seem that much more drastic, but if he is taken for what he is, then he's better than people think. The inflation estimation placed him in this light.

7.) It takes some mental pressure off of Ian. Yes Ian will most likely be upset about losing some minutes, but Ian will have something more to prove, and nothing gets the most out of players like compe ion.

8.) This gives more options, especially in a deep west. I'd like to get deeper.

Now, aside of the improbable nature of this acquisition, it is still worth considering. No player is perfect.

Unfortunately, I agree with Spur Addict.

Although there's alot of things wrong with Curry, it's mostly mental (stupidity, laziness, en lement, etc). The skills are there and he'd be a huge upgrade.

Duncan can probably slap some sense into his under-achieving ass if anybody could.

Looks like the Spurs are making a run for the big guy, I'm all for this, he may be slow, but he's a legit 7 footer than will bang you down low. I'm all for this if it's Bowen + Bonner + picks, basically anything outside of our big 3 + Mason + Hill + Ian.

How much does he make these days and how long is his contract, i would def. consider those things before adding him, but its true, the spurs have no interior scoring other than duncan, and these days, most teams have acouple guys that can score down low.

I'm reading all 4 pages but wouldn't the length of this guys contract go completely against the FA contingency plan they've been jocking for all along. This blurb doesn't add up to me.

Wasn't Jackie Butler supposed to be our Eddie Curry. Look what all that potential got us. Big Waste of Space.

It may be bad as far as salary, but it helps the Spurs this year. Imagine 2 more years of KT & Bonner?

Since New York is just dumping salary because they must have the space in 2010.

They'd be willing to take some bad short term contracts back:

    Bonner
    KT

For the Spurs, they'd get a better big man who will stop them from getting LeBron but they probably wouldn't have gotten LeBron anyways.

Yeah don't get me wrong I know without a shred of doubt the Spurs aren't going to land any significant FA's regardless of cap space. I'm pro trade but Curry doesn't add up to me. This guy isn't going to mesh with Pop any better than he did with Brown.

For those saying no to Curry, Why Not? We'd be possibly losing Vaughn, which is a very good thing, we'd lose Kurt Thomas, which is another very good thing, considering we're getting a 7 footer in return, we'd be losing a pick, which doesn't matter cause we can't draft for crap, along with possibly Bowen, which is the biggest key i think, but Udoka can step it up once Bowen is gone.

    Parker/Hill
    Manu/Mason
    Udoka/Finely
    Duncan/Ian
    Curry/Oberto

I believe Vaughn+Bonner+KT would make about the right amount of money to match the trade for Eddy Curry. Gotta take # of Roster spots into consideration too though, haven't thought about that.

Is this trade even possible before December 15? And who is being proposed? Vaughn, Bonner, Thomas? Do I have that right?

And could someone provide a link?

People want to get rid of half our roster for one guy and don't even consider that maybe the other team is full too.

Charlotte has placed Gerald Wallace on the block. If people are going to get sloppy wet for an impossible acquisition, I'd prefer to wag my tail for him rather than Curry. Here's to Larry Brown doing Pop a solid and giving up Wallace for Bowen, Vaughn, and Bonner. You can see why Charlotte would want to do that...

It might happen if you close your eyes and hope really hard.
