    I can't help the belief that if the situation had been precisely reversed and the foul had been put on Ariza (or worse yet, Kobe), that the Lakers fans who are trying to minimize this situation would be screaming for the offending Bobcat's head.

    If I had time, I'd try to go find it, but I'm certain that Laker fans were calling for Raja Bell's head a couple of years ago and weren't so blase about the consequences of that sort of foul. (Bell was, by the way, suspended for that beauty).

    I'd think that foul gets Bynum a one-game suspension and I think that's warranted here. In a league that actively encourages athletic players to aggressively drive to the rack -- dunks, after all, do tend to add excitement to the game -- it would be a travesty to send a message that a big man's choice to throw an elbow into the exposed mid-section of such players is acceptable or minimally punished. The last thing this league needs is to have its explosive players wondering whether a big man who faces no reprisals will cheap shot them at their most vulnerable.

    Bynum definitely didn't go for the ball. I'm not saying he tried to injure Wallace, but he definitely just stuck his elbow into Wallace's chest without moving his feet or anything. Bynum was basically lazy and decided not to play defense so he just went with the hard foul. Stupid play that could have been avoided. He should get fined at least.

    IMO, it was more a clumsy play than a dirty play. That doesn't excuse it though; you can't just throw elbows and forearms at guys in mid-air that aren't able to protect themselves, otherwise people would just stop driving into the paint. A couple of games out in order to allow him to learn his lesson would be an appropriate disciplinary measure.

    If Tim Duncan had done the same would Spur fan be as outraged? Or would they be saying the same thing Laker fan is saying right now?

    I wonder...

    What's crazy is that would have been just a regular 2 shot foul 20 years ago..type of phyical play like this happens in basketball. (not to mean getting somebody injured or anything) but maybe next time the likes of Paul Pierce, Ginobili, Parker and others that like to dive into the paint on the lakers they'll think twice and just shoot jumpshots!! im mean that some seriouis old school enforcer stuff!!

    damn that was hard... but i don;t think it's suspension worthy... i wish a promt recover for Wallace he seems to be a cool dude
    If you look at the video closely you will see that Bynum doesn't make an attempt on the ball. I think it is worth suspension.

    1 day suspension at most. If they gave one to Horford I wouldn't be surprised to see them give one to Bynum. For the record I don't think Horford should have gotten a suspension.

    No it would be not. Don't confuse things. The shooter maybe overprotected these days, but this was never a typical fool. If everybody starts doing this stuff, nobody will drive into the lane, it's not only about the Lakers. What Shaq did a couple of months ago to some midget (I don't remember who, but I do remember the play) was a hard old school enforcer foul. What Bynum did was over the top.

    Most probably would be defending his actions. However we all know TD doesn't play ball like that.

    Lakerfans are stupid in the sense they aren't thinking about the precedent this sets down the line if Bynum isn't suspended. If Bynum can get away with doing this then you can bet there will be some other players that will attempt the same type of foul on star players like Wade,Lebron, and including Kobe. I can only imagining Lakerfans ing and crying during the playoffs in a scenario where Kurt Thomas does the same exact move to Kobe and ends there season.

    What's most disturbing is all the Lakers fans falling all over themselves defending Andrew Bynum. Guess if he had pulled out a gun, laker fans would be saying---"well, Bynum had the right to protect himself and the lane". Bynum committed a fragrant foul. Period. Dumb players like Bynum don't seem to understand that there's a fine line between be a good defensive player and just being aggressive.

    The Spurs are soft and always have been;
    The Spurs and Lakers are rivals;
    Spurs fans latch onto anything unordinary the Lakers do and snipe.

    Bird's got to fly.

    duncan plays D with his feet, not elbows, he wouldn't be that out of position, he would never make that foul.

    Bynum's not a dirty player. That was a flagrant for sure. But if he does get suspended, shall be it (although I don't think he should be). He was just slow to come over and was out of position to make the defensive play, so he chose the lazy way and just reached. At 50 sec in the video, it does look like he tries to reach up and block the ball just when Wallace was about to jump, but Wallace jumped too quick and he ended up being elbowed. Bynum did come over to check if he was ok afterwards. That does not look like a dirty play with the purpose to injure.

    Hopefully, he should be fine and back in no time. I read on ESPN that it was "only" a partly collapsed lung. It could have been much worse since in the worse cases, it can be letal within minutes.

    I don't think Bynum meant to hurt but if Horford got suspended so should he.
