How to Eat Beans Without Embarrassing Gas

Step1
Mix beans with other grains.

Another way to reduce the number of beans and still enjoy their taste and health benefits is to mix beans with other healthy whole grains such as brown rice or quinoa. Whole grains lack raffinose, although the fiber in the grains can cause bloating and flatulence in some people. Choose your beans carefully.

As a generalization, eating beans that are smaller in size produces less flatulence and gas production by the colon than do larger beans. Try experimenting with different types of beans and keep a record of your symptoms. When you find a bean that causes less flatulence for you, stock up.
