what happened was Battier took the ball away i think and then they ended up calling foul on kobe or jumpball. Kobe didn't give up on the play and i specifically remember how pissed off i was when he did that. It just didn't look natural, he seemed chippy and just wanted to take his anger out that way.

If you think its nothing, Doug Collins specifically said right when that happened, i like kobe but no need for that, then he threw something about Jordan in there i can't remember.

I'll justify it. Dont just look at the elbow and knee. Look at the overall picture. Kobe is on top of Shane. Kobe needs to use his knee to stand up. He did, but it hits Shane in the face by accident. Then you see Kobe try to stand up using that same knee. Shane then starts to rise up with Kobe still on him. Kobe falls forward and his elbow lands on Shanes head. Look at the whole altercation. Its obvious there was a loss of balance in Kobe's part when Shane pushed off the ground.
HAHAHAHA Apparently, not only does kobe's follow through on his shot include a protruding elbow which happens to elbow people, even the follow through when he stands up including having to squat twice before he actually does get up. I wouldn't be surprised if kobe purposely tried to charlie horse yao ming in the thigh even though it hit the knee too!

Bowen is guilty as charged sometimes, but have you EVER seen Bowen knee and elbow someone like Kobe did?

Kobe's never made a valiant effort to fly over and kick someone in the face.

What a bunch of pussies you all are and you have probably never played the game at any high level. Yes, Kobe was roughing him up a bit. Just like all players do in the playoffs. If you honestly think he was trying to knee him in the face and throw the elbow then I say it again, what a bunch of pussies. If he was really trying to knee him in the face... Battier whould have been knocked out. Get real. Shane also would have come right back at him. Kobe was off balance. Shane was getting up, Kobe was making it difficult and laying on some weight... nothing more. Happens all the time. Get over it.

is there even a way to justify an elbow after Battier stuff Kobe's shot right in his face ?
If you actually watched the game it was a pass ...good defense by Battier and just some physical play you guys that are whining are a bunch of pussies
Artest, Bowen, Kmart, Terry, Verajao, Melo, Rondo Perkins and Bibby have all done the same or worse at times in their careers and some of it this playoffs quit whining the league is going soft 15 years ago that was just playoff basketball now you want suspensions ...sissies!!!

What was most awesome about that play was that Battier walked away smiling. He knew he got into Kobe's head. The only chance for the Rockets to win is for Kobe go 1 on 5. Shane's knows his out there.

I wish Gasol would knee and elbow someone in the face, the Lakers need more of that. They're the same bunch of pussies they were last year. I hope Kobe keeps being a " " and the rest of the team follows his lead. This team needs to play like dirty punks or their asses will be done in a matter of days.

No, they just need to man up, play smart and at least look like the give a damn about defense. You don't need to be dirty to be tough.

Yeah but they can't play tough, they proved that last year and proved it all year this year so now the only option is to play like dirty pricks, that's all they can do at this point and that's a million times better then playing like soft bleeding vaginas, which seem to be the only way they know how to play specifically Pau.

what if the one bleeding were Kobe, for sure NBA would send that player to the jail, being Kobe is advantage, not saying that was on porpouse but sth call should be made.

Shane Battier was bad ass that entire game

Played some awesome D on Kobe, blood streaming down his face, gettin in Kobe's head.

He reminded me of 2005 Bruce Bowen.

Battier sets the tone for these Rockets, as much in the locker room as on the court. After Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic cracked him with an elbow, Battier walked off the floor with blood streaming down his face. He needed four s ches to close the gash over his eye. Earlier, Bryant had tried to hogtie him during a scramble for the ball.
