Cro Cop is a ing embarrassment to MMA. He s his pants in the UFC, asks to be released and the UFC obliges. He begs to come back and Dana lets him back on a verbal agreement over supposedly 2 hours worth of phone calls where he gave the UFC his word he would fight again if he won. He turns down several fighters until he finds an easy opponent in Turk. He gets put on TV and wins by a fluke eye poke then grabs his dress and signs with DREAM immediately after the fight is over breaking his word. WTF?!?!
The first time Dana ever does a verbal agreement and he get's screwed. Kinda like the first time he tried to cross promote with PRIDE he got screwed, twice. People cry about Dana being inflexible but every time he is it seems like the UFC gets screwed over by someone.
Cro Cop isn't even a top 20 fighter anymore...Mustafa was walking him down much of the fight.
and to be clear...I don't even care that he signed with dream...its just so weird that he approached the UFC, lied and then signs with Dream right after he stood in the Octagon thanking the UFC and Dana over & over.
Its just so classless...the timing is bizarre....
COLOGNE, Germany – Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship was a short one.
Not long after stopping Mostapha Al-Turk in the first round of UFC 99 on Saturday at Lanxess Arena in his first fight in the UFC since back-to-back losses in 2007, Filipovic informed UFC president Dana White that he had signed a three-fight contract with the Japan-based DREAM.
White had signed Filipovic less than a month ago to a one-fight deal, the first time in more than nine years that he’d done that. He had worked out terms on two additional fights, but said he’d only put pen to paper for Saturday’s bout.
He brought Filipovic back because he knew the Croat is still very popular and Filipovic insisted he wanted to make a run for the le.
That proved not to be the truth. After turning down much tougher opposition, including Cain Velasquez, who defeated Cheick Kongo later on the card, he wound up with the lightly regarded Al-Turk.
But instead of getting a shot at big names like Randy Couture or Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and fighting his way into le contention, Filipovic opted to bolt for Japan.
“Isn’t that a dirty [expletive] thing to do?” White asked rhetorically after being queried about Filipovic’s deal with DREAM. “He [expletived] me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he [expletived] me.”
Filipovic looked unsteady and hardly impressive in defeating Al-Turk, who is winless in the UFC. He never landed one of his vaunted kicks and the fight ended not from a punch but when he poked Al-Turk in the eye with his finger.
Referee Dan Miragliotta didn’t see the poke, so it was regarded as a clean blow and Filipovic won by stoppage.
Filipovic was fighting five months to the day after knee surgery, one of several injuries he said kept him from performing at his best in his first stint in the UFC. Before the fight, he called his 1-2 UFC record “the black spot” on his career.
While speaking with reporters on a prefight conference call, Filipovic enthused about his return and said he was gunning for a le shot. All the while, he apparently knew he was in it for a one-fight deal.
He texted White on White’s cellular phone and told him he wanted to return. White said Filipovic declined numerous opponents.
Apparently, Filipovic, who is from Croatia, wanted to fight in Germany and use the UFC bout as a tuneup. He did and is now Dream bound, but he’ll almost certainly never fight in the UFC again.
“He didn’t keep his word,” White said, who said he’d had a two-hour talk with Filipovic on the day Filipovic texted and asked to be able to return. “He talked about honor and all this other [expletive] and he [expletived] me.
“He fed me this bull [expletive] about wanting to take a run for the le, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this. He turned down every other [expletive] fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.”
As is his custom, Filipovic skipped the postfight news conference and could not be reached to comment on the DREAM deal.

WOW, i don't know what to say about Mirko, i waited until 10 PM east time to get the PPV for this. Avoiding any news.. So it's breaking news to me.. He should not have done that. He looked okay in the fight, not great but i was glad he won, but what a -head for doing that. I don't get why he would, i mean come on dude.
Cain is for real but i will be real curious to see him against a Brock or a Carwin. See what happens against another great wrestler. But he is for real..
Dan Hardy won for sure, SD my ass he did so much more damage in that fight it is crazy..
Wandy and Rich 4 words
"What a in War"
I thought maybe Wandy pulled it out there, but Rich probably did more, amazing fight. He is probably the only guy losing 5 of 6 you want to see fight again and again..
Went 4-1 on the card, switched to Wandy at the last minute, but oh well.

I see on the Sherdog Play by play 2 had it for Wandy it was a true war and very close..
That's what Dana gets for signing the guy up for only a 1 fight deal to begin with. It's hilarious reading the "He promised me a three fight wahh...wahhh" crap. The way I see it, had Al Turk beaten Mirko, Dana wouldn't have wanted him back nor cry foul had Mirko walked out on them, but oh no, it's the other way around and he ends up getting screwed. Frankly, he had it coming. But then again, that's just his side of the story. And about the 1 fight deal, doesn't that seem a little fishy especially if the guy "promised" you a three fight deal? Why not sign the guy for the full amount? Is it really that much of a hassle to try and work out a 3 fight deal vs a 1 fight deal? Still, I can't say I was all that happy with the outcome of that match, ref should've seen the poke and/or should've been ruled a NC. Also, LOL @ Sylvia getting KTFO by Mercer in just 9 secs of the fight.![]()
Tim's career is over.. Showing up 310 pds, shows he has no desire to fight anymore. It's a shame since at one time he was one of the best heavyweights out there, but he doesn't wanna fight anymore..
Fedor seems to have taken whatever fight he had left out of him
You hate to say it but Mirko is pure and simple, an A-Hole!!

There are few names in the world of mixed martial arts that rival the recognition, especially globally, of Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic.
But the legacy of Cro Cop may now be one of double-dealings, after a tainted win at UFC 99 was followed by the Croatian kickboxer reneging on a verbal agreement to sign a multi-fight deal with the UFC, after the organization had given him a previously unheard of single-fight deal.
A former member of the Croatian parliament, ATJ Lučko anti-terrorism commando, and a long-time headkicker in the Pride FC, DREAM, K-1 and UFC promotions, the 6'2" 230 lb beast has flattened some of the biggest names in the sport with his trademark left high kick.
But Saturday, in front of 12,800 fans in Cologne, German, CroCop looked uneasy on his return to the UFC against the largely unheralded Mostpaha Al-Turk.
Taking several blows from the expected human sacrifice, Filipovic struggled to find his rhythm until a quick shot to the head rattled the big man from Britain. As Cro Cop moved in for the kill, he shot out an open hand and thumbed Al-Turk in the eye, unseen by the referee.
As the British submission wrestler held his eyes with both hands and turned away from his opponent, futilely hoping for a halt to proceedings, Cro Cop dove in and unloaded a barrage of blows, ultimately forcing a referee stoppage when Al-Turk dropped to the floor.
When showed footage of the eye poke afterwards, Filipovic shrugged it off, saying, "it doesn't really matter in a fight." The crowd responded with boos.
Within minutes of returning to the dressing room, Filipovic delivered his second cheap shot of the evening, telling UFC President Dana White that the first single-fight UFC agreement in nine years would not result in the multi-fight deal Cro Cop had verbally agreed to previously. Instead, Filipovic admitted he had already signed a three-fight deal with Japan's DREAM organization.
"Isn’t that a dirty f---ing thing to do?” White asked Yahoo's Kevin Iole. “He f---ed me. The first time in the history of the company I do [a verbal agreement] over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he f---ed me.”
Filipovic had previously told fans he wanted to make a run at the UFC heavyweight le, and reinforced that line to the crowd immediately after his win. Alas, it seems Filipovic was lying through his teeth.
According to White, Cro Cop turned down several top ten opponents for his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“He fed me this bull about wanting to take a run for the le, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this," White told Iole. "He turned down every other f---ing fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.”
White said he had initially received a text message from Filipovic asking to return, which resulted in a two hour conversation "about honour."
Cro Cop did not show up for the post-fight press conference.
Yeah if he lost there was no deal...that was the entire point.
What you aren't getting is Cro Cop called Dana begging back, not the other way around.
Look I am one of the biggest Cro Cop fans of all time but the fact is, once Cro Cop realized he still couldn't cut it he turned and ran away. Imediately.
If this had happened two weeks from now I wouldn't care. But the fact that it happened immediately after he stood in that octagon thanking the UFC for letting him back is what bothers me.
And 1 more thing.
Believe me...I like seeing Dana get humbled but not by a fighter turning into a coward after he gave his word.
I know we still need to hear Cro Cop's side but as someone who has read everything about Cro Cop possible I can assure you whatever Cro Cop says will be contradicted, by himself, several times over the next year. He's a very strange fella.
Ok its even worse than I thought.....

Some are going to look at this and say, "You know, Dana White has been screwing fighters for years now. He's finally gotten a taste of his own medicine. Hope he chokes on it." That may or may not be true, but one thing is for certain: This will make him more ruthless in his dealings with other fighters in the UFC. Crocop screwed many, many more people than just Dana White.
I am no Dana fan at all and it is nice to see him eat some crow but this for me is just about Mirko. Nobody can take away his legacy in his pride days but the fact is he flamed out badly in his first run with the UFC. Comes back for one fight against a talior made opponent for him and does an underhanded deal under the table with another organization beforehand. He has really tainted himself with this nonsense..

Oh how badly i would have loved to have been there to see what Dana's reaction was.. Maybe it will make it to his Blog..![]()
