Then again, maybe I am obssessed. I even liked "Joe versus the Volcano". Especially so since it has Abe Vigoda.
A "Godfather" alumni AND Tom Hanks? How can anyone disagree?![]()
I could see that since he's the only one Im talking about.
But he's the only one of "My three" thats being questioned. If everyone accepted Hanks and Brando I would be defending Nicholson. Same with Brando.
And again, you guys dont know the history.

I would never question Jack or Brando regarding a "best of" actors discussion.
By the way, three 6 mafia won an oscar before Martin Scorcese. Your trophies argument is baseless. And Shia Le has four $100 million dollar movies in 2 years. Doesn't mean he's a great actor.
Now I'm not denying that Tom Hanks is a great actor, but he is one of those actors, like Nicole Kidman, who are very "vanilla" to me. I think The Green Mile, The Road to Perdition, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan, and even Charlie Wilson's War are definite Tom Hanks vehicles. But there are many other actors who could have been plugged into any of his other roles and have the same film in the end. I suppose that speaks more for the formula of the films than the actual performances.
I underestimated your obsession. It knows no bounds.
Exactly was I was thinking. I was trying to think of a way to describe Hanks but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Thank you.
2 != 20.
btw - I though Shia was actually good in the first Transformers. Especially when he first realizing that his car was "alive". I havent seen the second. And I dont blame him for the fourth Indiana Jones movie. The script was just bad.
I agree there's probably more "Snubs" than "Obvious winners" when it comes to Oscars. So I'll say a parameter should be the dude should at least have been nominated a few times.
I see what you're saying, but how can you say that for sure? If you admit they're great performances, can you surely state that someone else could have done as well in his role?
The reason I love Tom Hanks so much is that if I go see a movie that he's in, it's almost guaranteed to be a great movie.
I see youre point, but not EVERY performance has to be distinctive.
I dont think you could just plug someone else in his Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Big and Cast Away films and got the same result.
The Terminal was impressive as well.
I can't believe I left that one off! I loved that film. An added plus was that Zeta-Jones was in it---she's another one of my "girl crushes"
And that wasn't me you quoted above![]()
IMHO, this is just another thread about "opinions" and there is no right or wrong so all you movie critics need to relax.
Oh, and IMHO, Tom Hanks is one damn good actor.
Hey, you!

I think Tom Hanks is a fine actor. But if I had to choose between watching a DiCaprio performance and a Hanks performance, I'd go with DiCaprio. The man acts with a lot of passion, and time after time picks great roles in great movies. His performance in the Departed is one of my favorite of all time.
"I afraid from ghost!"
"I afraid from Drak-Kula"
Say it aint so, Xylus. Say it aint so.
I think you still associate DiCaprio with anic, which was an awful movie.
I've not a bad thing to say about Tom Hanks. I generally love his movies; he's a charismatic guy and a great actor.
Dude, pardon me for being so nice, but...
WHERE THE HAVE YOU BEEN!?
Good to see you posting again.
That settles that.
It settles you are a giant . I thought you were obsessed BEFORE you announced that you wouldnt have given Revolutionary Road more than 15 minutes if not for Leo and that you bought it on DVD.
Still grabbing straws? Never found those other posts from me drooling over dicaprio? or does it settle that you're re ed and are obsessed over a slightly above average actor in Hanks?
It was years ago so I didnt even bother. I attribute your obsession to just being young. Youre not mature enough to establish your own opinions so you just "borrow" Monos'. I dont know why he's obsessed but you jumped on that bandwagon with other mavs fans a while ago.
Thats my psycho-analysis, anyway.
btw - Both Monos and Stretch were obsessed with the Departed as far back as 2007. Here's the evidence:

I guess its just a Mavs fan thing. They all cling together. Maybe its just one person? Between Leo and Patton Oswalt, their obsessions are just plain bizzare.
You're wrong, but that's not surprising.
