Alamo Cafe. I used to love it, but now it is not as good.

Rudy's
Sea Island is terrible
Bennigans/Applebee's/Chili's/Friday's etc.
I love Olive Garden, salad and bread are awesome, and I always order the Seafood Alfredo![]()
I remember that place. The chicks used to be in those swings above the bar.
That place sucks.![]()
Rudy's is good so eff that.
I'm going to go with Blanco cafe.
I agree with you on this . . . to a point. As far as tenderness and texture, I have not had a better steak than Ruth's Chris. The steak almost literally melts in your mouth. As far as taste, I completely agree. It's as if they forgot to season it. If they could take their steak, let me season it, then they cook it, that would make for a GREAT steak. With all that being said, their grilled ahi tuna is the second best item of seafood I have ever had.
Whoever said Texas Land and Cattle has better steaks: I have NEVER had a good steak there, and I worked there. Saltgrass is far superior.
Overrated restaurants?
Any of the mexican restaurants that make any top list in a magazine. Mi Tierras, and El Jarro come to mind. Chuy's sucks. Chipotle is horrible, but I think Free Birds is good.
One place that I continually rate very high, but can never seem to overrate no matter how hard I try is Magnolia Pancake Haus.
Restaurants are like women, sports, politics and religion.....................its subjective.
Oh YES! THANK YOU! I work in the building next to it and some people swear by the place. The food sucks and I have proof. There is a guy who started coming to sell tacos out of the back of his truck at 10 am every morning. The FIRST people to notice him and walk out and buy when he first started showing up were the mamacitas managers. By the fourth day all of the employees were out there waiting on him. The food is horrible and I am a white person. Then people say "Well the have good margaritas too." BS, I can go to Chachos down the street and get far superior margaritas or go home and make the best ones. . . I am glad someone else agrees with me.
I have never been there.![]()
It's to the point that I am afraid to try new things there now. They do EVERYTHING so ridiculously well that I am afraid there is on dish that they screw up to epic proportions. I mean, I don't really like coffee, but my fiance does. I took a sip of her coffee . . . the BEST I have ever had. They have fresh squeezed juices which isn't totally unique, but they must have the golden tree for the respective fruits. I have never had orange juice like that. They have very creative omelets (or at least unusual for around here), but they are executed perfectly. Make sure you get something that requires syrup. Oh and all I have to say is Muenchener Apfel Pfannekuchen.
Now that is totally understandable. That is why it is so hard for me to like a Mexican restaurant because nothing ever tastes like what my mom or grandma's ever put on the table.
And I've yet to taste rice that even comes close.
Whoever said Whataburger must be on crack. That's the best fast food burger in Texas! I'll take Whataburger over McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, or any other fast food place.
man, i'd hope no one holds them to any high regards. they're ok at best. i go there, but mainly for the scenery. i've heard pluckers is good, but expensive.
got that right. my moms heritage is sicilian so no self-respecting italian will be caught dead in the olive garden. i will go to picollo's on evers though. and the spaghetti dinners at san francesco di paola.
So what do you think of The Spaghetti House?![]()
Rofl....![]()
Picollo's is good stuff.
I finally got over to try The Egg and I the other morning. Not a bad atmosphere - simple decor and actual classical music on the speakers - not elevator music. I wouldn't recommend the biscuits and gravy, but the potatoes were very good and the macadamia nut coffee was excellent.
They also give a 15% military discount.
Buffalo Wild Wings could be the worst place to eat ever.
J. Alexanders
Mamacitas. Good atmosphere. The food is overrated.
mamacitas atmosphere reminds me almost of a school cafeteria
