Plus I think it was a first down.
It wasn't, but if you need a support group, Dan Wetzel and Deion Sanders are already heading one up.

Wasn't that bad. He had a hall of famer throwing the ball. Plus I think it was a first down.

Then that only magnifies how dumb Belichick was for burning two timeouts killing any ability to challenge.

Few things I'd like to point out

    Regarding our defense:
It's true the defense brought pressure on MANNING during the first three quarters and caused some 3 and out. However, most of those were due to Indy's WRS dropping balls they normally catch 9 out of 10. Let's not overrate NE defense.
Peyton's interceptions are misleading also because one was abnormal release (a really duck) and the other was a miscommunication with WAYNE. To tell you the truth, being a pats fan I never thought during the game that our D was owning the colts offense. I was well aware that we caught many breaks. I was still nervous in case of a close game because let's face it, Peyton ain't the chocke artist he used to be. The proof was that he just marched down the field in one min without using a timeout and scored a TD. You can't give him the ball with 2+min and all his timeouts. No matter where he starts he was going to score.

Our offense on the other hand was in full control the whole game. Our playmakers are on that side of the team. When I saw Tom Brady lobby to stay on the field for that 4th down I was hoping Belichik would agree. It was our reasonnable chance of winning the game.
The playcall on the other hand is questionnable because the play called has to give you at least one more yard than you need. it's football 101.

All in all, I'm happy with the decision to go for it on 4th down once more if we ever face Manning again and the game is close, and time running out.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head. It's refreshing to see this side of the argument from a Pats fan.

I rarely watch a game with homer glasses on. And the way the game went, our best option was to win it with our offense.
My thought process (and probably Belichick's as well) was:

    - Our defense is gassed and Peyton just marched the whole field and scored a touchdown in 1min without using any timeout. If we punt the ball, he will go the whole field again, score a touchdown... and we won't have time to respond.
    - on the other hand, our offense hasn't been stopped by the colts all night and totalled 400 something yards. It will get 2 or 3 more yards. If by any bad luck they fail to make it, let the colts score quickly and be up by 1. Then Tom brady and friends have the ball with 2 min left to be in FG range and win the game.
What killed us is that kid Wilwhite stopped Addai at the 1 yard line when he was about to score thus allowing the colts to take the whole time off

If Addai scores there, the ball is for NE with enough time to be in FG range and win it. Again, I say it was the right call to go for it.

There were some interesting soundbites with Belichick in response to the critics.
Basically, he said he makes calls that will benefit the team, and obviously with the hopes of winning the game.
He honestly felt like that decision was for the best.

When asked if he'd make that decision again, he said, "you only get one chance." He left it at that.

I'd make the same decision in the same situation.

This is the worst a Belichick's defense has looked in a while. Either he didn't prepare them or is failing to adjust. We have to run a cover 3 now, for the rest of the game, or a dime coverage

All this really proves is Belichick was right to go for it on 4th and 2 'cause Manning would have beat him anyway. He was in the zone at the end of that game and Brees was in the zone tonight. It's hard to beat great players when they get in a rhythm like that.

That or going for it on 4th and 2 destroyed his defense's confidence and this is what they've become.
