Willliams deserves it. He's the best player in the league to never play in an all-star game.
sons everyone knows that the NBA has a long history of TERRIBLY overrating their white stars for marketing purposes (Nash, Dirk, etc.) .... but David Lee got screwed on this. He definitely deserves to be in the all star game.

Two flaws to your argument.
Shaq is nowhere near all-star caliber anymore.
Pau is in the West while Mo and Shaq are in the East. They are not in compe ion for an all-star spot.
Why is everyone so in love with Zach after he has one great half a season? Intangibles should count for something. The guy has been a piece of his whole career.
son there is no doubt that Williams is a great point guard, but him getting voted in was basically a sympathy vote from the league. Billups clearly deserved it over Williams, but I think the league felt en led to let Williams finally make the team.
I wasn't aware that characteristics of past years factor into coaches decisions when choosing players for the all-star team.
Zach Randolph is putting up better numbers than Duncan in the pts and rebs categories and he deserves to be in it regardless of what his reputation is...
And being a piece of is a subjective/opinionated characteristic
