Salmons would instantly become the best wing player on the Spurs. For the life of me, I don't see why the Spurs wouldn't want him in a trade with the Bulls. No brainer, IMO.
Yeah, a player that is averaging 12.7 pts on 10.7 att, 2.5 assts and 3.5 rbds in 33.2 minutes of play would instantly become the best wing on the Spurs

You never know, guys who have been traded in the past have played significant minutes for their former team the night before...
Sounds like poor judgment to me. The last thing you want happening is an injury to the player you are trading thereby killing the deal.

He certainly would be better than Keith ing Bogans. It's simple, the Spurs would be waaaay better off with Thomas and Salmons > Bonner, Mason, and Finley. Now just do it damn it...

Not that this would make or break the Spurs, but I won't believe anything until I see it cross a legit wire.

Salmons was held out, but that doesn't mean he's been traded. We're still in limbo, and we'll be that way until noon (cali time) tomorrow.

This would be the best of all trade scenarios that I've heard.

Come home, Salmons, we've missed you since that draft night.

(I'd have to believe a draft pick would also be included.)

In terms of all around ability at both ends, damn right.

You can keep hoorahing for what they have now.

That's the point. It's amazing how so many on this board don't seem to be aware of the obvious.

Checking in from Madison Square Garden, where Nate Robinson is not in the building (he had flu-like symptoms that sent him to the hospital late Monday) as the Knicks continued their discussions with Boston. As Marc Stein noted an hour ago, John Salmons is not here either, as the Bulls apparently have a deal in place. "There are a lot of things that as an organization we're working on, and John Salmons will not be playing. There's things that I'm not at liberty to say," coach Vinny De Negro said.

The Bulls had been in discussions with the Spurs on a deal that would have sent Salmons to San Antonio for Roger Mason and Matt Bonner, but those talks died.

Chicago has been eager to move Salmons, who has a player option for next season at $5.8 million, for an expiring contract or contracts to clear additional cap space for next summer.

There also was talk at the Garden that the Knicks were discussing a trade with the Bulls that would send Al Harrington to Chicago, with Harrington possibly being re-routed to a third team.

Salmons to the Spurs is worrisome for the Lakers. I was happy when he got traded out of the West.

Salmons is one of the few players I've seen who pretty consistently bothers Kobe.

I hope 2Cleva is wrong about this .

I would also rather have Salmons than Bogans but that's not what I'm arguing, you said that Salmons is better than any Spurs wing and I don't agree with that.

Old one legged Manu > Salmons

And I know RJ has been a dissapointment but he's also a better basketball player than Salmons.

So did the talks REALLY die or are these talks going to pick up tonight after the game or tomorrow before the deadline?

But all indications with those in the know are that Salmons isn't coming...

Mason and Bonner have both played. Everyone has played.

Apparently this was a legitimate rumor at one point...but I bet it's a dead deal.

I hesitate to lock this thread because the Spurs are still talking to the Bullsl so something may happen. But I've been told it will not be Salmons for RMJ and Bonner.

You must be harking back to the NJ Net version of RJ. The version we have is passive, soft and is completely lost on both ends of the court.

Give me a guy who is effective on both ends of the court and has a relatively high BBIQ.
