I loved the season premiere, personally.
But I really hope that the writers don't have Quinn go the Doakes route. It'd be too lazy for the writers to do that, and a cop out. They're smart enough to come up with some sort of good idea for that.
Also, it seems unlikely because Doakes and Quinn have completely different cir stances with Dexter. Doakes just flat out hated Dexter, which everyone knew, and also had a sort of shady career (like when he kills two guys on the job in season 2 with no witnesses). Not to mention he had a military background and was a hot head who really started losing it in season 2 during his investigation of Dexter (or at least that's how it seemed to Miami Metro). So, Dexter pinning the Bay Harbor Butcher on Doakes made sense, especially because Doakes backed himself into a corner by having Dexter's blood box thing in his trunk.
Quinn, on the other hand, doesn't really have a bad history with Dexter aside from Dexter seeing him take money, but no one really knows about that. Also, Quinn is likely to get close, or at least want to get close to Debra this season, probably making things more complicated for Dexter. Add to the fact that Dexter's wife was just murdered by Trinity, but he's a suspect by Quinn and the FBI. I just don't see how Dexter would be able to pull off killing Quinn at the end of the season because of everything that is happening this season.
It will be interesting to see where everything goes this season, from Dexter dealing with Rita's death to Quinn investigating Kyle Butler and all that good stuff. I'm excited for the season.

I wish they would have just kept Doakes. He was a much better character than Quinn. I suppose it would have got old watching Doakes be su ious of Dexter all the time, but they're just doing the same with Quinn anyway.

When Dexter put Rita in the cab, he went off to Arthur's house and hid in the coffin. Then the SWAT team showed up and took Arthur's family away. Dexter then saw the broken glass from the Mustang and went and tracked down where the car was repaired and repainted. That took the entire day. Rita realized she forgot her keys and turned back around almost immediately. Arthur was following her at that time, and probably was from the previous night when he left his family after taking all their money and jewelry. That's why they estimated time of death at about 12 hours before Dexter found her. He'd killed her, cleaned up, packed up his stuff and gone to pick up the car before Dexter got on his trail again.I'm still trying to figure out when he had the chance to do it.
My favorite line from Doakes was "stop grinning like a in' psycho and get back to work".

I like the direction the season is going, but it's definitely not as good as season 4, which I didn't expect it to be.

Was anyone else really disappointed that they killed off Boyd so quickly? I thought that they would keep him around longer for the season, and even more so when Dexter tranquilizes him and he shoots Dexter with his own tranquilizer gun. I really thought he was creepy and the season would have fared better to have kept him around for at least a few more episodes.
I did like the end though, as no one has ever really seen Dexter kill before aside from Miguel. Season 5 is about as good as I expected it to be, and as it can be so far.
It will be tough to match season 4, no question. I was disappointed with the prospect of having to kill off quinn but I think Jonah has no reason to out dexter. Hopefully that will blow over.
Season 5 has a very different tone, feels like a whole new animal.

Read about her being in season 5 a while back. I was wondering what role they would use her in and this is definitely as interesting a role as it can get.

I've never been a fan of Julia Stiles but it really doens't matter who the guest star is. There will never me another Trinity. That said, I didn't have a lot of respect for Lithgow before season 4. As good as these writers are, I suppose we can't put anything past them.
I'm uneasy with where the show is at right now. The way I see it, this can't possibly be a long series. If this isn't the last season (and I hope it isn't) I'm expecting some huge twist somewhere down the line that changes the entire plot. I wonder if something will devistate dex to the point that he embraces his dark side and becomes the antagonist. I could see the whole shebang ending with Dex ridding the world of himself.

The producers already said there's no major bad guy this season. It looks like this season will focus on Dex going after that group that went after those blonde es

anything thats not dexter related should go, i find myself fast forwarding through B storylines, they usually suck, like the horrible asian internal affaris agent from a couple years ago, or the la guretra story line, the whole "sting" scene was out of an old buddy cop sitcom.
