I would probably not feel the way I feel about the conflict if the US wasn't propping up one of the sides. I think the reason that Israel is viewed far more harshly world wide is that they have a greater responsibility. They get tons of cash, military equipment, nukes, etc. and then cry "woe is me" when someone gets mad enough to fire a (relative) bottle rocket at the building that Israel is constructing on the lot where their house once stood. If the US was sending tons of aid to the Palestinians and comparatively ignoring Israel, then I would feel the opposite.
