Each is a brave man. I've been taught something special from each. Luva has a genuine heart and is a fine fellow.

Kool taught me to act like somebody in the aftermath of ultimate victory. I'll never for that lesson.

2b landed here, and hit the ground running. Immediately he was set upon by a pack of wild dogs and he never batted an eyelash. You didn't break him, and that is what bugs you all. I like people who crash against the wall refusing to quit.

Midget just wants some attention...He wants to be down with you Cully...He wants to be down with Luva as well...he's hurting that he can't have you on his team...maybe if he does his dance and do it well just maybe we'll reconsider letting him in the circle...but till then I wanna see the midget get spun...

Giuseppe requested the answers, ignore them if you still wish to try your luck. Most are verifiable if you search the internet hard enough. We're going off my memory though, if anyone has any corrections, please advise. I tried to make the answers interesting with some embellishment of the answers.

Other than the answers, thread is best for the ownage wrought on history2b.

    1) Why did Elgin Baylor retire? Specifically.
He was informed his starting spot was being given to Jim McMillian, who needed the minutes. Elgin retired rather than go to the bench, silly pride.

    2) What Buffalo Brave player fell on Jerry West in spring 1971 knocking him out of the rest of the season?
    Bob Kauffman

    3) Why did the Lakers draft Walt Hazzard and Gail Goodrich?
Territorial draft picks. Used to be a rule NBA teams could draft local college players, in this case both from UCLA, to help at the gate.

    4) Name 2 Lakers that were suspended in the 70s for throwing punches, and who did they hit.
Kermit Washington and Kareem. KW pucnhed Rudy Tomjanovich and damned near killed him. Kareem hit Kent Benson, broke his jaw and hos own hand.

    5) What Lakers superstar saw the owner give his 3 adolescent sons future NBA contracts. What was special about that night?
Jerry West night, and he was injured, see question 2, Lakers lost to Phoenix. Jack Kent Cooke gave Jerry's boys future contracts. Probably illegal, but they never amounted to anythng anyway.

    6) What happened to Kareem's jazz record collection?
Kareem may have owned the largest such collection in the world and it burned in a house fire. Fans from everywhere helped him replace it. This act of kindness helped Kareem come out of his isolation he felt against society.

    7) How did Kareem celebrate the 1980 championship after the buzzer?
Trick question because Kareem was back in LA recovering from a sprained ankle suffered in game 5. Reports later quoted Kareem as saying he struggled out to his backyard and "Screamed".

    8) Last year, the NBA had a commercial where Magic Johnson utters the phrase, "Get back into our game". What game was that from?
Game 4, NBA finals 1987, right after Magic's "Junior Sky Hook". Getting "back into our game" was in reference to the Lakers coming back from down 16 points.

    9) Who did Magic Johnson first hug after the 1980 championship was won?
Butch Lee. It was a "kiss of death" in a way, Lee never played in the NBA again.

    10) Magic Johnson unbelievably committed the same silly error in the 1984 finals that a Maverick did in the western playoffs. What was it?
On the WCSF Derek Harper of the Mavs dribbled out the clock in game 4 when score was tied without getting a shot off. Harper thought Mavs were ahead, Lakers won in OT. In game 2 in Boston finals, Magic dribbled out the clock in a tie game. The Lakers had been ahead, but a bad pass by Worthy seconds before allowed a tie. Lakes lost in OT.

    11) What Portland player in the 1977 WCF did the Lakers have no answer for?

    Roy Tarpley, Mavs.

    13) Why should Jerry West's 60 foot shot to tie the Knicks in 1970 finals at the buzzer have been disallowed?
Because Chamberlain never took the ball out of bounds before he passed it to west on the inbounds play. Wilt had one foot in bounds, the other out.

    14) What NBA legend co-authored a book about those 1969-70 Knicks?
Phil Jackson. It's a great book with lots of photos. Try to find it.

    15) Does Jeannie Buss shave her bush? Where can proof be found?
No, she's natural, at l;easti n the 1995 issue of Playboy she appeared in. If you haven't seen them, google will find them easily.

    16) What was the number one reason Jerry Buss bought the Lakers, he said it himself.
    To beat the Boston Celtics

    17) Why did Jack Kent Cooke sell the Lakers?

    32) 1969: Suns lost 10 more games than the Bucks, but lost a coin flip for the rights to draft Alcindor. Even though the Suns drafted second, the NBA took pity on them with a perk. What was it?
They gave the suns superstar Connie Hawkins. Connie had played a few years for the Harlem Globetrotters because no college would let him play, and the NBA had him banned, all due to an alleged point shaving incident that Connie was never charged with. Connie sued the NBA, got a settlement, and was allowed to play.
