    Sneakers!

And what was the name of the club thereabouts that was housed in what looked like an old IHOP? Sons of Hercules, Gingbreadmen, Bouffant Jellyfish-level bands used to play there. Anyone remember?

I don't remember the name of the club but some of the bands from those days and scene that stick out in my head are True Infidels, Mumble Skinny, Cinder Leaf (I think they still may actually still be around) and Py's Grove.

Oh man... I played my second gig opening for Mumble Skinny @ Wacky's. Awesome band. Their guitarist died not long ago -- 2004? Too bad, because he was really great before the drugs.

The Cinder Leaf guys broke up amicably last time I checked. Jason, the singer had a band called Za Pather that was just as good, but I haven't been to see a live show of anyone's in years, so who knows?

Small world. I took guitar lessons from Skinny around '95 when I was 14 years old. He was an absolute monster on the guitar. He could play anything you put in front of him. Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, anything. It was sad though because you could tell his lifestyle was already taking its toll on him. Such a loss for the SA music community. But for those who saw him play the guitar when he was on his game, we'll never forget it.

Country Down Under was part of that Central Park Mall club thing, right? IIRC, Garth Brooks played there before he made it to superstar status.

Park Place/CDU/Pollyesters (names got changed a lot)

Isn't Graham still over there on Fred Rd?

Oh man. The Godfather. How could I forget him. I have many casssettes of recorded songs with him speaking over into the tune. His show is the one that introduced me to Tony MacAlpine. A true San Antonio legend

Yes that is the place.......... my buddy used a friends ID to try and get in...........we were all underage I believe.........anyhow, the bouncers asked him to sign his name on a sheet of paper to see if it matched the ID cards signature. My dumbass friend prints his name out, instead of writing it in cursive. Needless to say, we didnt get in.

    .

Country down under was next door to Broadstreet at Central Park Mall...........both places I used to regular. Graham is no longer there. I think someone got a cap busted in their ass and they shut it down.

AHHHHHH, how could I forget Iries on Fred rd. close to the medical center. They played Raggae music there and you could get red stripe beer maaaaahhn. They closed it down because several people got caps busted in their ass.
