This just won't go away, will it? Now, there are 10 states considering proof of eligibility legislation - that will be in place by 2012.

And, according to the Cons ution, it's the States that select the electors based on whatever method they deem appropriate. Should be an interesting election cycle.

That would be a good change. However, we cannot impose "ex post facto" laws. Now if they pass such a law before the filing deadline for the 2012 elections... That could be interesting!

No , one of the few things we seem to agree on.

    Guys...

I really wish we could show he wasn't a US born citizen, but we can't. There is no evidence any more credible than those used by conspiracy theorists. Honestly... I wish we could make most or all legislation, signed into law by him, null and void.

There is an interesting theory out there that they are purposely withholding proof of his citizenship just because of the "birthers." The more you guys talk and get sidetracked over an issue you can never win, the more they blindside us with other stuff.

    Think about it.
I don't even ing care. I just hope it keeps somebody in this administration dancing as fast as they can...

And, if it ends up causing Obama heartburn, more the better.

It won't go away because, it's still in the news and seems to be gaining steam..with this bumbling Hawaii Governor and the states that seem to be contemplating making future candidates pony up the proof.
What news is this still in?
What bumbling Hawaii Governor? Do you have a direct quote from him? Let's see it.

And, to whom does he "show proof of eligibility before running?"

    Just curious.
The Federal Election Commission. Where all candidates have to register in order to run for federal elections?

Why would he have any heartburn since he's an American citizen?
More like giving him a good laugh.

It's still not law until signed by the president. If he was a false president, what would that mean?

But he isn't a false president, so why would that matter?

There's no IF. He was eligible. Again, you don't just run by announcing it on a newspaper. You have to register and provide do entation to federal authorities before you can actually be a candidate.

To which federal authorities does one provide this do entation and what do entation do these federal authorities require?

Not readily apparent, in the few forms I reviewed, that a candidate has to prove eligibility for anything more than receiving federal funds to campaign.

You're the expert, what does a candidate have to provide the FEC in order to prove eligibility for the office President?

Where did I claim to be an expert, Yoni?

I claimed candidates need to register with the FEC and provide do entation. That's factually accurate.

Challenges to his eligibility have been filed in different lawsuits and dismissed. What else you need to know? I'm still waiting for the direct quote from the Hawaii Governor...

According to rulings on the subject, eligibility verification can only be requested by Congress (per the 12th amendment). That's the reason lawsuits by individuals have no standing.

I don't even ing care. I hope this re ed issue keeps getting attached to the right wing in this country, so they have to continually admit they have some real re s in their midst.

and, if it ends up causing you to look more like one of those idiots attempting to push this issue, more the better.

    Did you miss this:

Palafox, 58, said he was surprised when he heard TV news reports citing anonymous sources claiming he was under investigation for medical billing fraud.
