nobody knows how a person in college/high school will pan out in the NBA
Really? David Robinson/Tim Duncan 1st overall picks by the Spurs.

Kwame Brown, first overall pick by MJ.

MJ GOAT NBA player? No doubt

MJ great judge of talent? No.

@ Duncan being better than Shaq
    what a joke
Duncan has been better than Shaq. Shaq's pinnacle was so narrow that it doesn't really compare to Duncan. Shaq was ing dominant in the threepeat years. He did ok with Miami in 2006. Didn't do after that.

As much oral stimulation as you warts give Kobe, how can you even say Shaq was a factor in a single win?

    Shaq's 3 peat playoff stats

    31/15/3
    30/15/3
    29/13/3

    Duncan...lol

    Shaq >>> Duncan

and who cares what he "did after that"
3 straight championships in A ROW
Shaq retiring after 2002 and he would still be better than Duncan

So 3 rings is better than 4 rings with two completely different teams?

Add to it that Shaq had what Laker fan here has constantly stated as the GOAT Kobe Bryant as his side kick, and you want to say that Robinson = Kobe or the Robinson = Shaq?

I will give Shaq the most dominant big in the last 30 years, no problem. Better overall career than Duncan? No. Peat or no peat, rings are what they are. Just ask Culbert.

Tim has been a factor in the game since he started. Shaq has been semi-retired for 4 years.

I got Kobe from 2001 to present. There are plenty of videos of NBA players priasing Kobe the best player in the league, but you will never find a video of players mentioning Duncan as the best.

    Naturally.

its not about teammates, its about what you do on the court!

    Shaq
    31/15/3
    30/15/3
    29/13/3
    18/10/2

    Duncan
    25/15/5
    24/14/3
    23/12/3
    22/12/3

    its not even close

Shaq has a greater legacy than Jim. A back to back. A three peat. Six finals trips. Head to,head he owns Jim.
Nope. 15-15 in the playoffs vs. each other, each tied at 3 in series wins.

    Stats:

    Duncan: 25.6, 13.0, 3.8, 2.4, 48%

    Shaq: 22.4, 12.8, 2.2, 2.8, 52%

But I still take 3 peat Shaq over any version of Duncan. They way he carried the Lakers to those les was a sight to behold.

So you're saying that it took both Kobe and Shaq, two of the best players in the league, to defeat Duncan?

Thanks for finally admitting that Glorified Latrell Spreewell needed Shaq and vice-versa. Breath of fresh air to hear that.

Sorry for calling you a re . Seems I was off base with that. You just earned a load of brownie points for saying something that no Lakers homer has ever been able to admit.

Duncan was 32 and past his prime while Kobe was at his peak. But during the early and mid-2000s, when Duncan was prime, it took both Kobe and Shaq.

2003 with Kobe and Shaq and all Duncan had was a wild Manu and a young mediocre Tony and Lakers still lost.

...or you could say in 2008, it took Pau to team up with Kobe to finally send TD to the tree of woe considering he never won a playoff game until then. Then Kobe won him two rings (and counting).

The last time the Lakers will ever face the Spurs in the playoffs is 2008. Unless the Spurs squeak into the 8th seed. The rivalry is done.

But without Pau or Shaq, Kobe never won a playoff series and even missed the playoffs one year. That's a two way relationship. Sometimes Kobe is the woman, sometimes it's Pau. This year, they both chose to be women. Pau with his emotional problems and Kobe with his stellar 22, 3, 3.
