I'm sure they've discussed all this already. And whatever they've decided, I'm cool with it.

Honestly, my husband being there (which he was) was the least of my worries. I didn't want him comforting me, I wanted a fricking epidural. STAT!

yes tpark from the residents not the government, way to further explain what i meant
I really don't think the residents of SA would think badly of him. I am one and I wouldn't.

I wouldn't call him that. But I would definitely think he had made the wrong decision. I can't imagine that she would feel a game is more important than the birth. She might say he should play, but I'd be willing to bet she'd be lying to make him happy (as women do for their men).

Or, she might also be of the opinion that what he does for a living is giving her and her children a life most people can only dream about...and for him & his career, it's a pretty big deal. Who knows? I'm sure they have it all worked out.

    Definitely some bad family planning.

...and I hadn't ready your post yet, Mikey.

Can't go wrong with accepting a family decision.

By the way, best wishes to P.J. and his wife. Hope that all is well.

because I hate in people expect other human beings to put GAMES

    YES GAMES

    ahead of life.

    Thats why.

Yes you brought politics into it by doing your stupid ass jab at Sean Hannity.

So STFU and support Duncan when he does miss a game for his wife.
Y'all crack me up. I'll bet a few of you have devoted more emotional thought to the "should he stay or should he go" of Tim Duncan's personal life than you have to all the pregnant wives whose husbands are getting shot at in Iraq.

    [/no more political commentary]

It's not on Amy. TIM will choose to experience the birth of his child over his job - his coworkers have to pick up the slack. It happens thousands of times all over the city.

If Tim is able to bring it through these finals, knowing what the impending birth of a child means - and then the exhausting aftermath, then I will be suprised. He is bound to be distracted and torn right now - forget about the labor; he's talking to his wife, she feels like crap (it's summer in SA - and she's probably + 40 - 50 lbs - and it HIS fault!), he wants to be there for her, and because of this 2-3-2 BS he's away for an entire week!

Major, major, major distraction. And don't talk to me about professionalism, or focussing on the job at hand - this is his family, his love, his first born we are talking about - , most of us are so obsessed with the Spurs right now we aren't doing OUR jobs - we're doing this!

$.02 - If it were, say, Ben or CBill facing the same decision, I'd expect them to put family ahead of the game, ahead of the team, and way ahead of my own petty wants as a fan.

That said, if TD actually has to make that choice, I'd like to see the game postponed (yah, like the NBA would let that happen ) ; if the Pistons are going to repeat, I'd want it to be against a full-strength Spurs team, and if they're not capable of taking the series with Duncan on the floor, then they shouldn't.

And health, healing and best wishes to Mrs. C.

    Oh, and GO PISTONS!

Yeah, mookie...but if there happen to be some complications with the birth (and you never know), I'm sure he'd never forgive himself for not being there.

You're poking fun at his spelling, yet you spelled "sentence" wrong.

I didn't hear anything else about Mrs. Carlesimo. And she's not that old (someone said in regards to PJ being 57 that she must be old).

I don't know why this thread turned into a debate whether it's okay for Tim to take off when Amy gives birth. Of course it's okay. If the Spurs tell their players "take as much time as you need" regarding family issues, then they can do just that. There's not much debate.

Well maybe when you are married and having the birth of your first child you will think differently. It's just a personal decision, nothing for anyone to judge.

If you're planning on sticking around, you'll have to get used to that.
