Considering they are going to get NOTHING when CP3 walks next season this was a very good deal for them. Scola, Martin, and Odom are nothing to sneeze at. Very solid ball players to build a team around and I don't think anyone can question that. I don't see anything else out there that was demonstrably better than this deal, including the Rondo deal from Boston.

Funny thread - almost as bad as me trying to explain Dwight/Deron to MAV fan. Demps sucks, this deal was stupid and he hasn't done much right since he's been in NO. NO fans should absolutely thank Stern for giving this poor franchise a fighters chance.

Benson really needs to consider hiring Stern full-time to be GM. Drafting Rivers to play PG, throwing tons of money at scrub-ass Ryan Anderson, and now trying to trade for the tier Lopez should get Demps' ass fired.

They would have had Odom, Martin, Scola, Dragic.....it would have been a GREAT trade for New Orleans.

Ridiculous decision by the NBA and is costing them credibility already.

Demps is ok. Trading Okafor and Ariza was a huge move. That was his signature move by far. Totally fleeced the Wizards in that one and got a 2nd round pick out of it. Signing Anderson for 8.5 million per season is not bad at all. Numbers back it up. At least he will perform in the regular season. Hopefully Gordon and Davis step up so Anderson can just be a complementary player. Didn't care for the Rivers pick, but drafting Darius Miller in the 2nd round was a good pick. Also made some decent low risks move trading for guys like Jason Smith, Xavier Henry, and Greivis Vasquez. Trading Thornton for Landry at the time was a smart move especially West tore his ACL.
