if banning guns made you safe, DC wouldn't be the murder capital of the country.

Every time something like this happens, gun sales go through the roof as the NRA and others drum up the same tired "They're going to take your guns" fearmongering speeches, and Washington does little beyond discussing gun control.

I mean, if there's a conspiracy here, I'm not sure why anyone would think it's coming from the anti-gun side.

except it isnt, because criminologist studies have shown the opposite. guns actually save many more lives than those who die from gun related violence, feel free to look it up. this is facts and science, something you may not be able to cope with. it's universally recognized by criminologists. just look at places like DC where they are banned, they actually have higher violent crime rates and gun crime.
America is one of the most heavily armed countries in the industrialized world -- it also has one of the highest homicide rates in the industrialized world.

the problem is, bad guys can always illegally acquire guns just like they do drugs.
What's the problem with making it harder to acquire semi-automatic assault rifles? You keep generalizing my position. The NRA has your mind of ing lockdown. I don't want to ban all guns. I'm not saying gun control legislation would have stopped this. I think it probably would have result is less carnage.

I guess there's no point is making murder illegal either. People who want to do it badly enough are just going to do it anyway.

You take a true point about america having a problem and find a convenient scapegoat for it, guns. Sorry, but guns don't kill people, people do. There is something terribly wrong with this society, as we have lost all sense of morality it seems. But we also have just as many crimes that don't involve guns as well. We also have way too many rapes, burglaries, assaults, theft, etc. We have a societal problem and a lot of hate in america that needs to be looked at, rather than taking the easy way out and finding a scapegoat we should take a look at ourselves and ask what's going wrong in our society.

our non firearm homicide rate is twice as high as civilized countries like denmark and germany, and 4 times higher than switzerland.

think about all the sexual deviancy and crimes against children.

    it's a societal problem.

Even though I disagree, I understood your position until the last paragraph.

Murder is the point when you violate someone else's Cons utional Rights. That's why it's illegal.

Were you aware Russia's murder rate is about 4 times ours and they all but disarmed their population during communist rule.

No, that wasn't my point. I was contradicting your point that guns save lives. If America is so heavily armed, then why do we have such a high homicide rate with guns?

(America was 5th on that list for % of homicides with firearms -- only 1% behind Zimbabwe)

maybe if we didn't let in so many people from 3rd world countries, our crime rate would be much lower.

I was not opposed to the assault weapons ban, but I don't think that will solve anything now. There are so many assault weapons out there, if you outlawed them you would just be creating a black market and drive up their price. Those that really want to get their hands on them will, just as they do with drugs today.

I still maintain that there is nothing that could have been done to stop this particular guy. If he didn't have access to guns, he likely would have built homemade bombs or something else in order to kill multiple people. This type of incident is rare, and sadly there isn't much that can be done to stop it.

If you want to stop the majority of gun violence, then I think you are more likely to succeed if you tackle the societal issues that cause everyday gun violence. One of the biggest causes of crime in this country is poverty. We have fought wars on drugs and terror, but we have abandoned the war on poverty, which is possibly the most important battle we face.

If the CIA is going to program a Manchurian candidate killer, nothing is likely to stop it.

Ron and Rand Paul have a bill pending in congress that would make it illegal for US intelligence agencies to program killers for the purpose of false-flag operations, but Harry Reid continues to block it in the Senate.

How about you compare our murder rates to countries that are similar to our own. Oh i guess that because we have at least 4 times the murder rate of all western european countries.

Aurora Massacre: What Does the Location of the Gas Mask Tell Us? What About Security Cameras? Are They Related?

I just found out that the judge in this case has sealed the case because disclosure of the facts would be “contrary to public interests” and that the request to do that was made on Friday just hours after the event.

As for the mind control angle, is there any evidence of this type of 'mind control' outside of the asinine conspiracy theories. Has for example there ever been 'mind control' to do something noble or even benign? Or is it just a case where the CIA/NSA saves it for JFK, the Twin Towers, McVeigh and this guy?

I'm at a loss as to how concealed carry could have been anything other than an aggravating force in this situation. A heavily protected gunman AND an adversary in a darkened and chaotic theater sounds likes recipe for increasing the problem, not solving it.
Criminals thrive in the lawful being restricted. Knowing that law abiding citizens will not be armed made this a good place to get his jollies.
