While I usually believe this forum (mostly NBA forum) is pretty racist, phobic and sexist, what Hibbert said wasn't a slur. Old people today don't keep up with the young people terms. "No " isn't a slur, it's just a joke. It's similar to "that's what she said." It's something you say to point out your previous statement can be construed sexually.

    Examples:

I was taking a pounding under the basket... that's what she said.
We were banging hard under the basket, no .
have to disagree. what they really mean is I was taking a pounding like a , but don't worry, I'm not a .

it is definitely despective and in jest of sexuals around the globe. Tim Duncan's protege should know better tbh

    it's equivalent to saying:

"I was tearing the fried chicken up, no niggga" IMO

If he used " gots" then there might be something there. It's really about context and in this context, there was no attack, it was just an immature joke in a press conference. The media and the league are definitely blowing this out of proportion probably because they want to desperately show they are pro-gay like the younger generation. But it's the younger generation that came up with the term and they are the most supportive of gay rights. Hibbert's comment was inappropriate and unprofessional but hardly worth such a heavy fine, especially when floppers only get a $5000 fine. He should have only gotten a $10,000 fine for cussing and making an inappropriate comment but the way the media is lambasting him and rushing to the defense of gay people is quite hilarious.

People like Mark Jackson who say that God doesn't want you to be gay is far more destructive.
Very well stated, agree with all of this.

Not sure if being misunderstood, or...

    Just to reiterate, I:

    1. Believe that "political correctness" is a two-sided affair. Side A: Don't be an asshole. Side B: Don't get offended by assholes.

    2. It's an observation of mine that, quite often (but not always), the people who shout the loudest in opposition to the push for political correctness in public forums are also the ones who are offended when their idea of Judeo-Christian decorum isn't mandated or simply held in higher regard than other moralities or faith systems. As a socially liberal atheist, I find that ongoing struggle rather amusing, in a disappointing way.
Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, I totally misunderstood your post. Oops.

As a socially-eclectic non-Judeo-Christian theist, I think it's important for public ins utions to not take sides for or against any particular religion, and I think we have a responsibility to protect the rights of people who hold minority belief systems. But I also think private individuals have the right to assert their own morality systems (Christian or otherwise) all they want within the limit of the law -- this includes the right for a majority to legislate morality, as long as it doesn't do so in a way that conflicts with others' actual rights.
