why does this thread have 3 pages already when it should be buried under other similar ty threads? tbh
A player's at ude and demeanor is affected by the very first team he joins. When he has power to run the teams, then he will be a head case just like Dwight Howard. While this guy can play out of his mind, Spurs don't need a player like Dwight to instill crappy at udes to the whole team. Spurs have always worked best by bringing players in that are willing to improve and change (like Danny Green), or drafting a lottery pick or player that had the underdog and disciplined mentality to begin with. Remember, Kawhi came out of San Diego State in a particularly weak conference of the NCAA; he had that underdog and discipline mentality rather than a showboat mentality.

What's the possibility of getting Josh Smith?
How is Duncan next to a giant Vagina scary?
James, Wade, Bosh all make less than the max. If Howard is willing to do the same for the sake of winning, I am all for it. Regardless of the hate for Howard, he is still a beast...
West has always seemed like a good guy who cares about his team and about winning. I can't believe he would walk away from that Indiana team unless they straight-up lowball him, and that would be really stupid for the Pacers to do.
Hopefully zero
With regards to Howard- this is just agent talk- driving up the interest.
I think Bill Simmons summed it up best

He really should ditch the broadcast booth
If Chip can teach him to master the corner 3 he'd be perfect IMO
Good point. If Howard were willing to take less than the max, several more teams could open up cap space for him.
I don't think Howard likes Duncan or Pop. Watching him work the pick and roll with Tony would be amazing though. His defense is elite. Defense and Pick and roll offense? Yes please. San Antonio is last on his list.
The Spurs will need a big man when Duncan retires. Howard might be a good fit.
That is the bottom line of this idea.
I'm not all up to date on the cap rules, but couldn't SA clear some cap space by trading Diaw and Bonner for 2nd round picks or something, then be able to keep Splitter and Manu and still bring in Howard?
TD/Splitter/Howard would be pretty sick
and defensively? with Leonard and Green? F*** yeah! Spurs would "set the NBA back 20 years" again![]()
He'll piss off Pop and end up like Jackson. Dude is a punk and doesn't care about winning.
..................but......you're forgetting something......WE HAVE BAYNES!!!....... Now lets dance!
Love this gif reaction haha
David West would be awesome IMO.
bzzzzzt. If Dwight wants to be a ball boy, he can sign with the Spurs. He's been overrated ever since he's come into the league.
4 years, $40M. years 2, 3, 4 are separate team options. not one penny more.
im probably in the vast minority but i think if(major if that pop stays if we win this season) howard could get 3 seasons of popovich+duncan coaching him, he could be an -amazing- replacement for the irreplaceable tim duncan, sure it will be a huge hit to lose TD but i do believe with the proper training d12 could be a force to be reckoned with in the spurs system
Dwight's free throw shooting would also be a major problem with signing him. He shows no interest in improving — had an entire season this year to work on it, and seemed to get worse over the course of the year.
You can't have a player on the floor who's constantly susceptible to the hack. Pop knows and exploits that fact more than any other coach.
Exactly. He's worth nowhere near the max, especially at his stage of his career when it's obvious that he'll never develop even 2-3 reliable post moves. Secondly, he can't and/or is unwilling to pass. Thirdly, he's the most polarizing player in the league after K. Bryant. Lastly, he's the most overrated player in the league after K. Bryant.
He is just putting the Spurs in the conversation because they're in the Finals. He wants attention and he is simply using the Spurs to get it. He will never be a Spur and I don't give a damn about it tbh.
