Different rules my friend. In MMA, you open yourself up to a wide variety of attacks and guards... more freedom. In boxing, you're purely restricted to using your arms and leaning on your opponent but that's about it. I simply think the learning curve for boxing is too hard. An MMAer will probably be so tempted to kick another boxer in the face inside the ring because he's just so used to that type of fighting style tbh
Which proves my point that its harder to be boxing world champ than MMA world champ because it takes so much more discipline. An average joe cant pick up boxing late and become a le contender.

The real question is : In a street fight who would win? Any re know the MMA guy would destory the boxer in real life.

The funniest thing is.. in a real fight, any MMA fighter ranked from #500-1000 would leave tthe greatest of all time boxer unconscious on the floor, in front of his girl

How the can you diss a sport that has that capacity? Lol at box s
The guy with the gun would win. Ask Zimmerman. That question is not relevant here. And I aint dissing MMA.

Of course the question is relevant. Human beings fight. Oldest thing we do. And a guy trained in jiu jitsu or wrestling (without any other training) would assassinate 100% of times the guy trained in boxing (without any other training). Fact.

I bet the MMA guy would also enjoy rolling on the ground while fondling the boxer's genitals, too, tbh..

thats not a fact. Thats your opinion. Let me know what MMA mother er would step in the ring and fight a prime tyson. They wont even do it now and no one is close to tysons punching power in his prime. Its always boxers having to fight MMA and THAT is fact.

You can talk for them, but if MMAers are such badasses and untouchable as you say they are, and boxing is too simply for them, then they should have no problem beating a boxer at a sport as "easy" as boxing, because afterall it only punching.

Apples and oranges. Both disciplines take elite skill to win a championship.

I respect MMA more now simply because boxing screwed itself. It became a fiasco that I simply wanted no more of. 1993, Pernell Whitaker vs. Julio Cesar Chavez right here in SA was the last straw. Whitaker clearly beat the out of Chavez, but the fight was called a draw, as a way of not tarnishing the record of Chavez.

I fear that Dana White may eventually take MMA down the same path boxing went down...the greedy PoS can't help himself. I hope I am wrong.

LOL, yeah its an opinion. How would Tyson stuff a takedown from a life-trained grappler, idiot? He can't even use knees to attack a takedown, he'd just get raped by ANY, I said, ANY Top1000 MMA fighter

So in a REAL fight, lets say, in a street, prime Tyson, Boxing's greatest power to exist, would lose to any scrub. Welcome to real life, boxing s..

Are you ing kidding me? That fighter had no more than white-belt in jj.

I'll repeat it again, and you must be very dumb if you disagree. Anyboy with a bluebelt in Jiu Jitsu and that took 1 month of wrestling can beat any boxing fighter in history in a street

And when I mean beat, I mean kill. That is pretty humilliating for a fighting sport

If your argument is not that (if it is, you are re ed), and it is : If a guy is really really good in boxing and learns all the other arts, he will be #1.. Well, he will also be an MMA fighter, not a boxer anymore

You just proved my point you assumed I was talking about the octagon. I was referring to fighting Tyson in a boxing ring. You guys always want MMA rules. I'm saying if MMA guys are such badasses, why won't they fight a boxer a boxing ring with boxing rules. Boxing is soooo easy to you guys yet no MMAer will get into a boxing ring. Why?

We have video proof of old has been boxers getting into the ring with MMA guys and knocking there ass out. They don't always win, but they hold their own because even in an octagon, MMAers respect their punching power. At least boxers are willing to step into the octagon knowing they are going in without all the other training. Again, why won't an MMAer step into a boxing ring?

Oh and your assuming your scrub MMA guy would still he standing to be able to "take down" Tyson. would knock his ass out with one punch before he gathered his thoughts on how to take him down.

Silva, he got knocked the out and totally deserved it for being a show boating the whole time. He didn't take a dive. You could see it on his face right before Rogan interviewed him, he knew he ed up and looked like a completely asswipe.

    no it isn't!

but the debate of mma vs boxing is pointless. boxers stepping into mma without the years of training in a martial art or wrestling would get mollywhopped; same goes for a mma fighter stepping into a boxing ring.

i like both but would rather watch a thrilling 12 round boxing match than a 1-2 round mma fight.
