Regardless if Saban happens or not, I think it's pretty clear that Mack is gone before the week is out. Too many big outlets picked it up for it to go any other way.
Yup. That is the biggest win so far.

    Here's what AL.com has to say http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2...ban_has_a.html

With conflicting reports circulating on Tuesday regarding the news that Texas head coach Mack Brown will step down, the nation's attention has quickly turned to Alabama where Nick Saban has been widely speculated to be Texas' top candidate in the event of Brown's departure.
ESPN Radio host Paul Finebaum reported on his show on Tuesday that while Brown's immediate future will be the immediate focus on the national media, there could be news in the near future on Saban and his future with Alabama.
"You're also going to hear a lot more about Nick Saban because he has a contract on his desk that's been there since Friday - and today is Tuesday," he said. Finebaum did not cite a source for the information.
Shortly after Finebaum made his comments, NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt reported details of a potential new deal between Saban and Alabama.
Just told by source Nick Saban in contract negotiations w #Alabama for extension in $7M/year range.

That's all! RT@Gil_Brandt: Just told by source Nick Saban in contract negotiations w #Alabama for extension in $7M/year range.
    -- Paul Finebaum (@finebaum) December 10, 2013
Finebaum told AL.com on Friday that he believed Alabama was on the verge of announcing a new deal with Saban.
"It's starting to come out today that Saban is staying at Alabama and will have a new deal so they'll focus on that," Finebaum said when asked about how Alabama fans were responding to the Tide's disappointing Iron Bowl loss.

I think it's safe to say that ole' Saban has started a bidding war

He's going to come out of this much, much wealthier, regardless of where he ends up

Sounds like a mafia deal or something

How about Bama's big money donors? Don't know much about their finances. Maybe you could enlighten me?

Not my question. Why would they pay him to go away right not instead of after the bowl game? Who else would they do that for except Saban?
I'll just let you continue to hold your breath. They want this done because of all the smoke, if anything. They aren't rushing in for Saban. But believe what you want to believe. I'm sure Harbaugh will come with Saban too.

Nervous? If Saban leaves Auburn will pick up a few of those recruits. It's a net gain, especially when you consider the ensuing meltdown of Bama fans

I'm working a different angle here.

Now, can you explain how Texas can pay more money? Do you know what the situation with Alabama's finances is? Just being a profitable program (yes, Texas is at the top, according to Forbes) doesn't equate to paying a coach some exorbitant amount of money (like the 10 mil a year + whatever else that's being rumored). We're talking about public ins utions with boards and all kinds of other political bull .

Irony alert. You've been posting all week that "insiders" guaranteed that Mack would step down today. Has that happened?

Alabama folks are the ones who got him in those bad real estate investments. Exxon Mobil, all those corporate assholes, I don't really thing anything else needs to be said about how much Texas can pay more. It's pretty apparent.
