They brought back the same team. Basically have kept the same core since their last le (big 3- no other team in the league has the same top 3 players since 2007)
And it's been the same result year after year: NO LE

Last year they were lucky because the west was weakened by the injuries. The Spurs with the same type of team they always run with since their last le almost snuck in a le.

This year by their record against the best teams we see that they really are not a serious contender unless they get lucky again with injuries taking out the best teams.
Management has been way too conservative keeping the same players year in year out and thinking just changing role players will be good enough.

Over paid both Manu and Splitter was a conservative move instead of going in another direction to bring in some youth and athletic explosiveness.

It makes you wonder how good (instead of LUCKY) our front office execs really are

I really don't think they are very good. They are good in keeping the same team together but not very good in upgrading the roster. They rode the lucky lottery ping pong ball bounces that landed them both Robinson and Duncan then made a couple of great draft picks in Parker and manu and have ridden those for over 13 years now. Without Lucky lottery(Duncan) The Spurs would have never had any les with this current conservative management.

I lost respect for management when I saw the Lakers win back to back to back(2000-2002) while the Spurs had both Robinson and Duncan on the roster, that is just pitiful for a management to squander those 3 years because they could not surround Robinson/Duncan with better players (passed on Sprewell and R. Wallace because they were afraid of their character issues). The spurs won 2 out of 6 years with Robinson/Duncan and I say that is not good. Didn't even go to the finals in the other 4 years.

I feel like we at least tried to upgrade the roster in the early 2000's. The Anderson signing was an attempt to get talent it just never panned out. We also made key signings in Bruce Bowen, Robert horry, Michael Finley, and Brent Barry. I really feel like the fA stopped upgrading the roster after the 06 mavs series and just got really lucky in 07. When was the last time the FO actually went after a guy with horry or Barry's calibur??
