Man....it must suck for Thomas, though. Well, I hope we get something good out of this.
all SA need another point guard
Dude got paid $702,232 to show up to practice a few times and play 15 minutes of NBA basketball. And now he's free to go back to whatever the it is he was doing a month ago.
Can't say I'd be too banged up about it.
He might get picked up off waivers; if not he should almost immediately be signed to a 10-day by some team.
That's true, but I just mean overall. He's been moved around a good bit through his career. Of course, plenty of players go through this, though.
The Spurs can sign me tomorrow, play me not AT ALL, and pay my ass $700K.Poor Malcolm.
Pop and RC went on a drinking binge.
I hope a quality instant production player falls out of the sky into the Spurs lap like Diaw did a couple years ago. Spurs need a break. Where's the n karma.
ing re s in the Spurs FO. Look what happened when they waived Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
I already discussed this with someone. I'm not just talking his brief stay with us, just referring to his career overall. Sure he has the money for very little play, but I'm sure he'd like to have a consistent place and to be recognized. Like I said to the other guy, he's been shipped around a decent bit. Of course, he isn't the only player that goes through this.
Yes, poor Malcolm.![]()
YEP AND JAMES WHITE! HE COULD DUNK!!!!!!!!!! Our damn saviors we had we waived!
A couple of q's:
1. If he's not picked up by another Team, can the Spurs get him back later in the season?
2. Can the Toros sign him?
3. If they (Toros) can, might there be some sign of agreement between Thomas and the Spurs for next season?
1. Yes.
2. No. The Los Angeles team owns his D-League rights.
3. N/A
Thx. D-Fenders own them although he played for the Toros when he was with the Spurs? Seems a Little odd.
He was a Spur on assignment then. He's not a Spur anymore.
Maybe we should have just signed Deshaun Thomas
Wont impact the team either way since Pop wont play either of them, but how stupid are they giving up guaranteed money just to sign a 10 day contract on a scrub that wont even play?
WHAT!!!??? The front office does nothing wrong, they are infallible.
There isn't any danger of hitting the tax threshold, so what's it to you?
Read on PtR that they waived Thomas because he's a PF, not a SF.
This is what the Spurs do. They get some scrub no one has ever heard of---> ST overrates him ---> Spurs FO cuts him ---> ST meltdown. By now you should all know how the Spurs operate. They do this every year. The next guy that comes in from the d-league or wherever will be just another guy to take up space.
The only reason to get excited is if the Spurs make a block buster mid-season trade, but we all know that isn't going to happen, right? Holt & friends will make damn sure to milk the Big 3 for as long as they can before they realize they have to pony up to bring some real talent in to SA.
i hate this move. i'd rather have seen them part ways with ayers or decolo.
