I was an infrequent lurker at WOAI, SR, and, I think, My SA starting around the time after we won the 99 le. I might have made a username at WOAI or SR but if I did I never posted under it that I can remember. I don't remember the order in which I found them I just know they all appeared in my favorites as a little used link around the same time, with SC and Spurs Dominion coming a little later. These places all seemed kind of tame to me and they all kind of seemed like groups of friends so I never really felt comfortable with the idea of post at them.

The first place I actually posted was at the NBA forums at Jim Rome in 2000 and posted there until they pulled the board down in late 2001 early 02.

I then went to a couple of Jim Rome offshoot boards called the Trolls and rack the Trolls but their NBA forums never regained the glory and fun of the Jim Rome boards.

And oddly enough...it was a rare occasion that Mouse would actually venture into the NBA forums at those places, even though he posted there...he was usually found in the main forums posting pictures of his "sisters" and stuff like that.

I really wish I had saved the post at the trolls where mouse stepped out of character and talked about the Spurs le in 03...it was a trip.

I registered as whottt at WOAI in late 2001, to fight the trolls there(Conan, Bear, ZenMaster etc) to about all the trolls and wonder why there were no mods to clean them up so there could be coherent discussion on those boards. There were fewer trolls and better discussion at the Trolls than there was at WOAI. I gave that up real quick when I saw it was hopeless and was content to post at the trolls and lurk at SR.

I finally registered at my first officials Spurs board in 2002...when Dusty made it so you couldn't see the Spurs Report board unless you registered. I think my first post was an anti Kidd post. I remember arguing quite a bit with baselinebum, adidas when I first joined. Maybe MB too. I seem to recall a LakerFan named Sean2023 or something like that, that I drove clinically insane at SR.

I was basically happy at that board and an occasional post here(which seemed kind of like a clique of the most knowledgable SR posters at the time) until Dusty deleted a thread in the 03 offseason where people were discussing signing Robert Horry, just because he didn't like Horry.

I then moved to FSP as a poster full time in the Summer of 03,, and have been here every since, and have been very happy with the move, and Robert Horry.

Yep I remember you being the other staunch pro-Horry in that thread...which is why your opinion(and trivia knowledge) has always been a respected one around these parts.

That anti-Horry's in that thread got owned as badly as anyone has ever been owned. They know who they are.

Damn straight, Horry to the Spurs at that time was as perfect a fit as Milk and cookies. How anyone could have been re ed enough to think it was a bad fit amazes me, especially a person who is the admin of a large Spurs website. Laughable.

I think it was a case of letting hate get in the way of objectivity more than a lack of knowledge. There are a lot of Spurfans that just hate Horry because of the past...still. If Horry starts missing a few shots early next season they will again start calling for his head.

My problem with what happened is that a King rules nothing without his peasants...and when you are start stepping on the peasantry a little too harshly and a little too often, they tend to start wanting a new King.

And why after things calm down certain individuals have to continue to bring up the past and other websites just to stir the hornets nests again?

I see some that go to the "romper room" obviously...how would they know what was said? And on that does that make them the same as those that post there or worse(in their eyes since they think what they think of it) because then they bring it here to repeat it.

Are they so paranoid that they cant just let it go? that they have to bring it up here?

Who the cares what someone says about you? I have gotten to the point were i could care less maybe its because im working 14 hours a day maybe because i dont care... maybe just maybe ive matured enough to ignore it.

The mere defintion of what a troll is can slide us all into that catagory some more than others...

Some trolling is good it can be lighthearted and funny the trolling i see and continue to see here is hateful and misguided... So what if someone said something on another website... do we have to repeat the mistake and bring it here too?

Well if your a troll you would say yes because thats what you do... by the definition of a troll.

It's hard for me to find some of my older posts on usenet because I used to always switch my name and email address. I didn't like to post under the same name twice for some reason.

Here is a post I found from right after the Spurs won their first championship. Got some things right. Not bad.

contract and he can come in and bang, play defense, and rebound. Gerald King
might be good enough to play back up center, it all depends on how he plays
in the summer leagues. He showed some good post moves in garbage time last
year and he is 6'9 to 6'10 which is about the size the spurs are looking
for.
I agree about what y'all are saying about JJ. If he thinks he is lucky to be
in this position, he will re-sign. If he thinks that he has become a star,
he will sign somewhere else. We would miss him and i am almost certain he
would struggle if he moved to a different team. The spurs are a perfect fit
for him. Talking about perfect fits, Malik just fits the spurs perfectly.
His height (or lack of) doesn't hurt him because he is always on the court
with either duncan or dave. If he did decide to sign with another team, i
think he would also struggle because of his height.

The spurs did the right thing in this draft. They didn't need any more
contracts and they got two guys who could be solid players in the future.
And if not, it doesn't really matter because we don't owe them any money. It
will be interesting to see how last years 2nd round pick Derrick Dial does
in the coming summer league. The coaches seem impressed with what he did
last year in greece. He average about 19 points and that was good enough for
the leading scorer on his team. He was also in the league leader in three
pointers made. His shooting percentages were not great (about 42% overall,
35% at threes), but that is to be expected for the leading scorer on a bad
team (his team was 10-16 overall, 0-13 on the road). His only problem is
that his role would be the same as steve kerr. He is taller than steve kerr
(6'5) and is a better defender, but it is always good to have a proven
winner like kerr.

Talking about kerr, it wouldn't shock me if he isn't a spur next year. He
might be part of a sign and trade with Will. One trade that is possible is
will and kerr to washington for cheaney and terry davis. that would be a
pretty good trade, but i am not a huge terry davis fan. Kerr is a good
player but last year he didn't really fit well with the spurs. the spurs are
a defensive team and the weakest part of kerr's game is his defense. but
this season the spurs have a training camp and can find a way to fit him
into the team.

the players that the spurs might go after is a player like dale ellis. he is
a veteran that is only playing now to get a ring, and the spurs can never
have too much outside shooting. hopefully there will be players that will
want a ring and sign with the spurs for less money.

the backup point is another question for the spurs. they might go after a
veteran point like greg anthoney or terry porter if they are not confident
with antonio daniels. personally, i think daniels will be a very good player
one day and that they should give him some more minutes next year to get him
ready for when it is his team. all he needs to do is get the mental part of
the game down because he has all the physical skills.

it looks like pop is planing to sign a lot of players next offseason. the
only spur under contract for the season after next is steve kerr. with all
that cap room, pop will probably try hard to sign sprewell. pop and him are
good friends and i think sprewell would be a great compliment to duncan.
other players he could go after are ron mercer and derek anderson. after
signing the free agents he would then re-sign duncan, robinson, elliott, aj
etc. (if we get the arena that is)

lets just hope that duncan won't have to play a lot these upcoming pre
olympic games. and then we can see how the spurs players (daniels,dial,
king, williams)play in the summer leagues.
