I was just reading that too, I don't know who wouldn't buy the better one, since you're bound to buy all those peripherals eventually anyway.

Buy the $400 package
A Memory card $39.99 U.S./?34.99/£22.99) is required for saving games, a headset ($19.99 U.S./?19.99/£14.99) is necessary for Xbox Live play, a second controller sells for $39.99 (?34.99/£24.99), and a remote goes for $29.99 (?29.99/£19.99), totaling $130, the premium price appears the better deal. The above tally doesn't include a MS HD, which costs an additional $99 (totaling $229).

This has probably been said but, the reason I won't be getting the 360 is because it won't have backwards compatability. To me, thats just unacceptable.
if you get the one with the hard drive, then it will be
Not for all the games, just the"hit" ones.
i heard that the library will be expanded as time goes by, i'm sure that eventually all the games will be playable. if the drive plays one xbox game, then how or why would it single out another "non-hit" game.
not disagreeing with you, just real curious, cause i have quite a few "non-hit" games and don't want to have to pull out the old xbox to play a little outlaw volleyball or similar.
keep your old xbox, its the best way, i've stopped trading in consoles a long time ago, because you get ripped off anyway
OH, I'll never trade in my old consoles, I still have the original Nintendo. I don't play it, I mostly play the dreamcast because I have a crap load of... *cough*imported games.
the dreamcast rocked, good thing it failed though, if not we wouldn't have the xbox
It's not really backwards compatability, it's emulation. Basically it will be Emulated instead of hardware base.
Youl have to probably dl patches to add more "games" to the list... If im not mistaken its not like the PS2 for example that was simply hardware based. Word is M$ is paying royalties to Nividia for emulation.
As sad as it sounds when I say it out loud, that game package for 400 dollars is actually a good deal.
Not as sad as "Alright, gas for $2.42"
I think it's a very good deal. i've heard quite a few complaints saying thats its too expensive.
Kinda funny that when the rumors were that the PS3 was going to be $400, that was ok, but now since the 360 is $400, its outrageous. Fanboys....![]()
At the same price,
Xbox 360 w/ Hard drive > PS3 w/o Hard drive
Then again, according to Sony, the PS3 is supposed to be more expensive than the 360...![]()
So, the next gen consoles are gonna cost an assload of money, the games better be worth it. I mean, really spectacular graphics, gameplay, presentation, etc. This goes for the ps3 and the revolution. I expect madden to look like a live broadcast damnit.
Out here in California, itsAlright, gas for $2.42
"Hey look, its 2.75, theyre practically giving it away"
Ya know what I like, is if the Sports games, ARE like a real broadcast. So, the next gen consoles are gonna cost an assload of money, the games better be worth it. And if the sounds in the stadium are like what they would be if you went to a game.
