I thought we were doing a pre-war blues colloquial thing.
I'm one of those speed typers who then goes back and corrects everything.
I thought we were doing a pre-war blues colloquial thing.
Richard "Rabbit" Brown was from Louisiana, he recored a half dozen tunes or so. That one is a true classic, one of the gems of them old blues.
Give Henry Spaulings "Cairo" a listen.
I know. It's good.
What did you think about games 3 and 4? What do you predict happens Thursday and beyond?
When have I ever been asked about the Spurs. What do you wanna know? Wanna talk about how old they are now looking, how the Thunder are too quick for them? Wanna talk about how Tony Parker is blowing it?
Spaulding. I've heard that one. He recorded on Brunswick. The first Crickets records came out on that label.
I've asked you countless times since you've been a member here and you've never once offered up anything...what you're doing now is pretending to care and just googling results...it's very obvious.
Dude, I haven't missed a game of the series. Wanna talk about all those Spurs starters sitting on the bench in the 4th last night? Wanna talk about that look that Duncan gave?
Basketball is my relaxed sport. I don't bet on the games or try and remember stats etcs, it's just enjoying the greatest athletes in the world for me.
Wrong as usual.
You're lying
Hey, johnsmith. We're talking dem ol' blues here. Take it upstairs, homeslice.
No I'm not guy, seen ever game the Spurs have played in these playoffs.
Oh wrecker asked me to leave it alone in this thread, and because he doesn't absolutely suck as a human being the way you do and actually seems like an alright guy, I'm going to do just that.
But you're lying.
I'm sure there are a thousand opinions on this but earliest delineator I can think of would be the emergence of ragtime in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Ragtime seemed to capture the rhythmic elements of African music combined with structural elements of European compositions. I love to play rags....and a good stride technique underpins the ability to effectively improvise. Clark Terry turned me onto ragtime as a technique building tool about 25 years ago. Best piece of advice I've ever been given.
It's cool. I was just joking. You notice how quickly he clammed up when I proved I'm not a total idiot about dem ol' blues.
Look. Someone said something interesting and informative, relayed in a personal experience about music and wasn't a complete superior jerk asshole about it.
I'm actually carrying on 3 converstions on three different sites.
I knew you knew a little about them blues guy. But I could teach a class on the music...ok?
What would the class consist of...could you make us some sort of semester long syllabus?
We'd have to start in Africa and the instruments the natives used. Then here came those slavey years and that plantation life. That's where it all started. Then we'd move up into what came just before the first recordings in the early 20's.
Look guy I have 12 huge books on the subject right over there, no need to try and play this...ok?
Hey, easy there pal, I believe you in regards to your blues knowledge....I'd just like to see a well written two page syllabus outlining what you would teach a class in regards to this particular subject. If you could have that to us by Friday it would be great. I'd get to work though, your students are hungry for information.
Let me guess...you're going to choose high school juniors.
Not too concerned with what you want, honest!
I seriously doubt Blues Appreciation will be a HS subject. A lot of violence, sex, drugs, booze in them old blues.
Don't think...
"Cocaine Blues"
"My Pencil Won't Write No More"
"My Banana in Your Fruitbasket"
"Whiskeyheaded Woman"
...would run at the HS level.
wow...you already have your excuse ready.
"well officer, she couldn't have been in high school because I was teaching her Blues Appreciation."
