Nash is a genius tbh. He knows damn well the Lakers aren't doing anything this season.

He knows he can't compete at the highest level with these young guys anymore.

He knows he can milk his injury(s) and still collect that fat paycheck every week.

He's going to get paid millions of dollars to sit court side and watch his friends hoop while traveling the U.S. on the company's dollar.

Just sit back, relax, get paid, and enjoy his farewell tour.

Best job in America right now tbh. Nash is a smart man.
all very true. Nash is one of my favorites.

dude realizes LA is a mess and is going to start his retirement party early, can't blame him.

Ah, how things have changed in four years. The Lakers and Spurs have gone through opposite trajectories. Lakers went from champions to bottom-feeders, and Spurs have gone from first/second-round fodder to champs.

Perfect...but who knows, maybe things will reverse again in another four years.

Big deal if you keep the pick. It's only top-3 protected in 2016 if kept. Lakers wrecked their future via the draft for TOSB Nash and it backfired.
    Top 3? I thought it's top 5?

    From LG

    Lets do a little breakdown:

-Rams the Lakers up the ass with Phoenix, eliminates LA from two consecutive post-seasons.
-Costs LA two 1st-rounders in trade for him.
-Breaks leg during second game as a Laker, never healthy again, career as effective player essentially ends 5 quarters into LAL career.
-Lakers hire Mike D'Antoni instead of Phil Jackson due in large part to Nash's presence.
-Refuses to take advantage of medical retirement despite futility of comeback, costing Lakers $9.3m in cap room.
-Nerve damages ends 2014-15 season before it begins, with Lakers down a roster spot and already thin at PG position.

He's played a total of 68 games for LA? I wonder what his statistics were doing those games?

It was a fluke injury. The chances of the same thing happening in Phoenix are slim to none. We always kept him in decent health. If we hadn't run him out of town, the end of his career would have been much better - but at least we can take solace in the fantasy that he is a double agent, taking down the enemy from within....

SI nailed it with the headline. It is fun. For everybody. Just not for the Lakers.

Top 5 protected in 2015, top 3 protected in 2016 if the Lakers retain the pick in 2015.

Serious question, isn't this a good thing for the Lakers? Nash has been done for a while now so it's not like he was going to help anyway. And now the Lakers can apply for a disabled player exception to add another player to the roster for about $5 million. Not that there is any savior left out there in free agency, but what the was Nash going to do for the Lakers?

Best part is Nash came out and said that he isn't sorry for going for the money. He said its all about the money right now. This dude made $400 k per game in the last 3 seasons

"It's just a reality," Nash said, in a Grantland.com video do entary. "I'm not going to retire because I want the money. It's honest. We want honest athletes, but at the same time, you're going to have people out there saying 'He's so greedy. He's made x amount of money and he has to take this last little bit.' Yes, I do, have to take that last little bit. I'm sorry if that is frustrating to some but if they were in my shoes they would do exactly the same thing. I wouldn't believe for a minute that they wouldn't."

I do appreciate his honesty. Just not his TOSB status. I love how people want to act like players should take less to win... when this dude is flat out telling you is all that matter is the dough ...and he was the poster boy for unselfishness on the court.
