While not a song about prison, I think you'll get the connection.
While not a song about prison, I think you'll get the connection.
This was recorded right there in Angola Louisiana at the infamous Angola Peniteniary. This is where Lead Belly was discovered and Robert Pete Williams.
Aaron Neville does a great cover of this tune.
Of all the prison recording done and there were tons of them this tune stands alone, it's amazing. The artist...Tangle Eye...was called that because his eyes went every which away, haha!!!! And nobody seems to know his real name.
A band took this....Tangle Eye...name.
Nailed it shut! Good stuff!

This is one of the great prison songs of all time, funny thing is....the name. No where in this song is...Viola Lee...mentioned.
The Grateful Dead do a great cover of this and this is the song I taught myself to play harmonica with. The great Noah Lewis on harmonica, cat died of a cocaine overdose back when it was legal.
The original and like Johnny said the first "great" country song. Not that Dalhart sounded that country.
How about the classic train/prison song?
lol did you just say you have amazing dimples and a tight ass?? hahaha
Just telling it like it is.
But.......there is nothing a woman loves better than a guy who can dance. I've actually been sitting on a bar stool and had the ladies....
(tapping me on my shoulder)
Cutey...I usually don't do this, but could you dance with me, I love the way you move.
