Why would Denver trade for a guy that makes 14 per year and gets 7 ppg on 27% shooting on 33 mpg?

Well, for one, Denver needs guards badly and have a logjam. Two, the money isn't really relevant since the money going out is about equal in total dollars and length of time (which is short-term).

Many people wanted Gordon when he was a FA and I am pretty sure, despite the numbers on a team with its own logjam, people still think that Gordon has talent in the right situation. Not to mention, despite his injuries/flaws, Gordon is probably still regarded as the most talented player in that deal (Afflalo is nothing special).

Position doesn't matter. It's skill set. Afflalo is more of a spot up/off the ball shooter from 3 that is better on defense. Gordon really absoultely has to have the ball in his hands to be effective and DEN needs ball handlers/slasher.
