Nick Van Exel >>> Beno Udrih
Nick Van exel a spur?????? I don't know about this... can't say why.. just a feeling.
Why is this particular signing such a great thing? Can anyone help me understand?
Nick Van Exel >>> Beno Udrih
Ignore me- my previous post at least.![]()
I just read the press release. This decisions makes much more sense now.
I approve so long as it doesn't cost me any of my keepers. = )
Does this transaction mean I am going to lose my favorite point guard?![]()
Good pickup for you guys. NVE and Horry are 2 dangerous guys in the clutch. Just adds another guy for Sheed to leave open

"lose my favorite point guard"
he's rookie-signed for 3 more years with the Spurs, just like Tony was.
From what timvp says, the Spurs are trying move Beno out. Maybe if he corrects what timvp says is an at ude/committment problem (aka "grows up"), the Spurs might keep him.
How come when I say Beno sucks, all of you pile on like little es in heat???
Now look whose talkin.
Frickin Blow Me already, grow some balls.
If Beno was such a slacker then how did he manage to score 25 points his first time starting in the nba, win rookie of the month ( December I believe), and get selected to play on the all star rookie team?
Beno was in over his head at times and made some less than brilliant plays , but name an athlete who hasn't- especially during his rookie year.
Van Exel is a veteran. He ought to be better than Beno.
Beno was peanutsellinesque until he forgot how to dribble the ball past halfcourt.
Yeah. Great news. Great add for the Spurs.
Oh my! Did Beno really do that? Ask to be out of the Finals??? Geez. I had no idea. When I heard about the signing of NVE I was really glad - figured he might be a good influence on Beno in the toughness area. But he may not be around for any of that. What else can you tell us about the situation with Beno?
undefinedThat's just speculation about his asking out of the finals, although I totally agree with the signing.
NVE was a great sign for the Spurs. He is deadly from 3 pt range, which means they have to guard him.
Jay Williams as the 3rd PG would be a steal.
I seriously doubt Beno asked to be benched. But let's say that he did.
Isn't it better to admit being in over your head than to compromise your team's chance at victory just to prove yourself?
No. You're in the pros, and you go out there and bust your ass, whether you're overmatched or not. Everyone in the arena knows when you're in over your head, and the coaches will adjust accordingly. But, if you go to the coach and say 'I can't do it' then said coach is never going to trust you again - and you're a flat out quitter.
If you're in 7th grade, then yes. If you're in the NBA, then no.
After re-reading the initial post, it was said figuratively, not literally. We like Beno alot at our house -- sure hope he continues to be a Spur and continues to improve... but if not, gotta wonder why.
That is just speculation on my part. But something happened to make the Spurs sour on him. Before the Finals, they liked him. After the Finals, they've been shopping him all summer.
Something happened.
NVE a Spur that is great news!![]()

If the spurs don't sign finley they sign Brown. Good times to be a Spur fan![]()
NVE is a good signing. I consider this a successful offseason now. If we get Finley or re-sign Brown now it's just gravy. I would still like to see a long 3 to guard the likes of T-mac for example. Houston looks to be our toughest compe ion in the West this year.
That bench would strike fear on any opposing NBA coach.
Beno isn't a quitter. I really believe Pop benched him for the reason you mentioned.
I don't think Beno is a quitter either and I know he has balls because I have seen games where he took some hard charges.
I don't want to believe you and yet my gut says you make sense.
I hope whatever the issues they can be resolved in a manner that keeps Beno with us.
WTF? Get over it, seriously.
