I'm not sure how much winning the Copa America helps Messi's career. He has the 2nd best team on paper so winning the South American crown isn't as impressive as the Euros (Ronaldo lost the Final vs Greece).

Ultimately, I don't think the global community will view such victories as reasons to propel these 2 players to GOAT status. People don't reference Zidane or Ronaldo's National Team success outside the World Cup
