Making children pledge loyalty to a flag daily is pretty ing creepy if you think about it.
Totalitarian, almost. "But but we love freedom "

I only saw the video on TV - pardon me if I don't have perfect, total recall of something that was aired at least 10 days ago.
You weren't even close to getting the facts straight and you posted a YouTube that you didn't even watch.

    Pardon denied.

Cut her some slack. Like most conservatives that post here, she does not deal in fact, logic and reason. Everything is an emotional response generally rooted in fear.

If you watch the video without the article quoted, you will see that what I posted follows the video (not exactly since at least 10 days passed). Unfortunately, I don't go searching the internet for (checking) articles while watching TV. I shall (NOT :-) endeavor to double and triple check everything before I post so I don't step on any toes.

    Except for this part:

The teacher is notified and she explains to the class that they must now refer to Johnny as Sally. It's now November so the kids have been calling him Johnny since Aug/Sept. The teacher has been put in an impossible situation. She can't control the teasing/comments from the other kids. The parents of the transgender complains, and the teacher is fired.
Nowhere in the video did she say she attempted to have the kids call Sally "Johnny".
Nowhere in the video does it show the transgender kid's parents complaining resulting in her termination. The school accommodated the transgender kid apparently from day 1.

Unfortunately, I don't go searching the internet for (checking) articles while watching TV. I shall (NOT :-) endeavor to double and triple check everything before I post so I don't step on any toes.
Well you should double check the story before posting it as fact if you want a decent discussion here.

    My kids are doing great
    Mine are too.

Straight A's. I take them to Morgan's wonderland to play around kids that may be different so that they will treat them like any other kid and not stare. So far their teachers tell me how they help other kids that are having difficulty with work.

Not that they don't have their hiccups but, in general, they are good kids that respect others.

Maybe, after being with them through 2 1/2 years of classes/lunch etc., my son can take a pretty good guess as to who believes and who doesn't (among the gifted kids he mostly has (academic) classes with - I don't mean PE or Keyboard). The ideology (and whether they believe in God) of some teachers/students come out in discussion. My son thinks it's funny how his AP Chemistry (not Biology) teacher injects her climate change stuff in through eg. giving extra credit for paper on climate change.
The moral silent majority of ins utionalized condescension went to the wayside with the interwebs. Welcome to now.

Is anyone actually buying the son bit?

Nowhere in this thread do I say that I think religion is good or bad. I said that I was surprised that most of the kids in his classes were atheists (when their parents were probably Catholics).

Someone in the ISIS in Afghanistan thread said I should have posted that video under this thread and now that I think of it, maybe I should have. They are teaching/indoctrinating their kids into their beliefs/religion and it seems that we are not. Maybe that's why some of our kids are attracted to/join them to get that sense of belonging that they aren't getting here in America. The lack of passing on customs, religion, traditions - it's no wonder some of them are adrift.

In the future, their people will strongly share their religion/beliefs/goal of killing the infidels while the US will be a nation of people who don't have anything in common - certainly not love of country. What does anyone see in this scenario? We'll be sitting ducks.
They belong to a country with freedom of ing speech. Why would they join ing ISIS?

Weren't the Boston Marathon bombers raised here in the US? And even though they didn't officially belong to ISIS - they were "motivated by extremist Islamic beliefs." Are you saying that some US kids aren't joining ISIS?

but you're ok with girls being exposed to other naked girls and dudes being exposed to other dudes. What's the worst thing you think will happen if girls catch a glimpse of Sally's ?

Tbh, I think it's long overdue to completely overhaul the whole shower locker room system and give every kid a fair amount of privacy.
Why not get rid of male/female showers and just have everyone shower together. You've made the case that it doesn't matter if kids see each other naked.

I didn't make any such case. I asked a question based on his concerns.

I think much more privacy is needed in locker rooms. I made that as clear as possible.

Did I mention that a university tried this, and the guys made videos of the girls showering? That ended that experiment quickly.

Amazing how people doubt when the truth is put in front of them - like I could make this up - you give my imagination more credit that it deserves. I guess I'm not the typical poster here so it's hard to believe that there are others SO different from yourselves. But that's what I'm here for - to hear different points of view.

I could spend all my time with homeschooling friends and talk kids, husbands, school work or go to my trading, rental house, tennis board, but since the election is coming up and it's so important that a repub gets the WH and changes the direction this country is going in, I'm here to hear the other side. Anyways, off to watch Federer/Wawrinka and Djokovic/Nadal.

You are going to have to do better than an evangelical tone on a new account to get me to buy in, chachi.
