If KD goes to the Warriors, they will be even more unbearable to watch. All the gloating, showboating and Draymond's smug face after KD announces he's a Warrior.

Lets say you have the following options:

    he goes to...
    a) BOS 100%
    b) GS 33% /SA 33% / OKC 34%

    What would you chose?

USA Today recognizes the East Coast, the West Coast, and all the little nobodies in between. They literally could have written that article the day before the meeting even happened, and had it ready to publish. The East Coast/ West Coast sportswriter bias is the reason the college football rankings had to start incorporating a more objective computer evaluation.

The Spurs haven't made any obvious moves toward a Plan B, like the Clippers, so it seems like they must still think they are in the running. I really don't know about Durant, but some guys are less impressed by a dog and pony show than others. I guess we'll see how impressed he is by Horford.

This is going to be a big homer opinion but... KD is a fool for choosing anyone outside of the Spurs or Warriors. The Spurs are a better choice of all the 4 options.

    1. Boston- they lack a top 5 player or a champion on the roster. If you need to bring a player from a team not in your sport to show championships you shouldn't be considered.

    2. OKC- Westbrook is arguably a top 5 player but he isn't a champion for a reason. He takes poor shots and often plays selfishly. Does KD really like playing with him? Also, Westbrook can't make KD's job easier on defense as he can only gaurd 1/2s. Westbrook will also age with Durant as they are similar in age.

    3. GSW- they have champions and a top 5 player. Curry had serious injury concerns a few years ago, is the same age as Westbrook and has had great luck with health. The NBA is figuring out you need to beat the out of Curry. Draymond does offer help on D. None are as young as Kawhi. Who's going to sacrifice stats to defer to KD?

    4. SAS- purely from a basketball standpoint KD would pick the Spurs. His career longevity and overall health will be prioritized. Kawhi will be able to defend the better of any of their assignments. As KD ages Kawhi will be enough years behind him that he can carry the workload as KD needs to unload some of his load in his twilight. LMA is the best big on any of the team's mentioned. I know Draymond plays great on the Warriors but he would look like butt on another team.

If I had to pick a Spur to pitch LMA was the right choice. He is a longhorn and can tell Durant what his transition to the Spurs has been like. The media is really pushing for any team but the Spurs. Any team, except Boston, that KD chooses will be favored to ring next year. I don't think Westbrook's game translates to championships and it's hard to imagine the depth GSW and the Spurs lose to get KD.

At at the end of the day, I don't think his decision will be the Spurs.

Yes, everyone who doesn't sign with the Spurs is "gay". "So what if Durant didn't come to the Spurs? We didn't want his gay ass on the team anyway."

I've heard that Ferraris don't get good gas mileage. They're gay, too.

If he's close to the Warrios, why are they going for Crawford? How many shooters do they need?

USA Today reported that the Celtics' meeting with Durant "overshadowed" his meeting with the Spurs.
People read the Washington Post for the politics, they read the Wall Street Journal for business news and they read USA Today for the color weather maps.

No one but Durant truly knows what he’s thinking, of course, which means it’s armchair psychology time all around. But when considering this Boston meeting that clearly overshadowed the San Antonio Spurs visit that preceded it, it’s best to remember that Durant has always had a certain affinity for the Celtics organization.

"Clearly overshadowed" in terms of its magnitude, not impact, the same way the Clippers' meeting clearly overshadowed the GSW meeting in terms of sheer time. Time, as it turns out, well wasted. Of course the article cops out by saying "no one truly knows" before proceeding with garbage.

(insert some random tweet supporting any point I want to make)

Durant isn't going anywhere, now, regular season or post season. He will be the "up and coming" guy forever.

Much of the appeal for Durant in OKC has to be Westbrook staying there long-term from a compe iveness pov. Without that assurance, there is a decent chance he leaves.
Thing is, Durant doesn't have to sign a long-term deal. Your reasoning is exactly why I and many others believe he'll simply sign a 1-year max deal with OKC and then become a FA again next year. Gives him one more shot at winning with Westbrook and OKC before they both become FAs. If the season goes well, they can both re-sign with OKC. If not, they'll go their separate ways. This also stands to make him the most money, since the cap will be at it's highest next year.

It just makes too much sense for him to do that.

there's too much risk in signing a one year deal whenever you have the chance to sign for 4 to five years guaranteed...and kd already said he wants a long term deal and stability. That's why, I think, we're still in...and we make the most sense for him.
Everybody can praise the draft movement of okc how much they want, but the fact is that the defensive stability and outside shooting given by Ibaka is gone, and a new balance in okc is still to be found and it will take time. imho still with kd in they are not going to be considered improved from last season...

Gs is a good chance of winning...but a poor professional choice and also a risky one, considering that he would need to limit to a great deal his number of shooting chances, that it would be considered in the eyes of everyone the "easy choice", and that he's gonne be the scapegoat in case things go wrong, consiedring that the other three all stars have already won just one year ago without him.

IN SA he's gonna find the ideal place...old veterans winner proven and ready to pass the torch to the new age, but still giving their contribution (TP, Tim, Manu); no anxiety for a le 'cause the main core in already signed for next three years (KL, Green, LA); the chance to be the main weapon but along with people ready to share the touches and shooting chances; plus a coach and a state that he likes 'cause of his connections, plus the beneficial of less taxes.

imho nobody can offer him a package like that but us...

Yeah head to Boston, you can be the new Carmelo Anthony. Mediocre team but you get paid!

Still think there's more to the Spurs story than it appears.

Him going to GS would do the same thing which I am not opposed to. It would be good news for the Spurs if he leaves OKC imo.
