That's not what they did, though. They lied about and distorted his words repeatedly. They pushed a narrative that he was actually Hitler 2.0. They didn't just go after him, they also viciously attacked his supporters as racists, fascists, and rednecks. CNN gave him an interview the next day and made him look good - almost as if they were trying to inspire copycats.
