Will he even be available for games 3 and 4? I'd be way too depressed to coach basketball in that situation, or maybe it would provide a distraction.

Sad situation for sure. I hope he takes the time off, but I would get it if he still coaches as I’m sure it would be devastating to be home and she isn’t there.
Man that is some rough to loose a loved one is so hard and forty years of marriage is pretty damn special. My prayers to Pop and his family.
Could go either way. It's different for everybody. I'm with you, I'd like to take some time to grieve if I were Pop. Some people like to distract themselves though.

At 70, if Pop takes some time off, he isn't coming back to coach anymore. He'll probably be with his family and call it a day doing whatever he wants in life.
But then again, he has a strong work ethic and I can see him using the summer to get his thoughts together and sticking around.

Hard to believe he was coaching under these cir stances. We also rip him when he says some things are more important than basketball. Well today we understood what he was talking about. Hopefully he has good memories to help him through this tough time.

She may have been sick but I don’t think this was expected..he’s been gone for the past 4-5 days due to travel in the playoffs. Glad to hear she passed when he was home and not on the road...

It is just a game. But it’s not fair to the guys going balls out on the court trying hard to win and fight for their livelihoods while their head coach doesn’t really care if they win or lose because the coach has some grand outlook on life.
Not saying Pop is wrong in the big picture, but at one time he didn’t have the big picture when he was young and hungry too.
Props to LeBron. He was genuinely emotionally when told about Erin Popovich death after Cavs-Pacers game.
