Freedom Caucus Chair to Federal Workers Who Might Get Furloughed:

    'Tough ,' Basically

it looks like thousands—perhaps hundreds of thousands—of federal employees might be furloughed without pay.

    Not that
GOP Rep. Mark Meadows, chair of the House Freedom Caucus, seems to really care.

“It’s actually part of what you do when you sign up for any public service position,”

they know they would be required to work and even in preparation for a potential shutdown those groups within the agencies have been instructed to show up.”

If only Congress people who have their pay cut (not reimbursed) for every day of their shutdowns.

"Shutdown money": Trump really thinks he can keep the money he's stiffing federal employees

YOU CANNOT withhold a government employee’s wages and keep it.

    Trump is so delusional that

he thinks the money he’s not paying them is going into some sort of slush fund

that he can then use to build the entire
    pointy wall.

    Perhaps in his warped mind,

he is fantasizing about using his “crack” attorneys

to intimidate 800,000 federal workers in court

out of the back pay they are owed.

(I’m sure Giuliani would at least try, if asked.)

Nancy Pelosi hilariously mocks Trump as his border wall degenerates into little more than a ‘beaded curtain’

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the likely House Speaker come January when Democrats take over the chamber, joked that
Trump’s border wall has been reduced from a cement barrier to a “beaded curtain,”

“He says ‘we’re going to build a wall with cement and

Mexico’s going to pay for it’

while he’s already backed off of the cement –

now he’s down to, I think, a beaded curtain or something,” Pelosi told USA Today.

“I’m not sure where he is.”

“That loser couldn’t even get Mexico to pay for a beaded curtain,” journalist Joshua Holland wrote,

“and you can get ‘em cheap down there.”

Shutdown hits poor hardest: Food stamp office cut by 95 percent

Department of Agriculture says the office that helps the neediest with food relief has been virtually shut down

SNAP benefits are expected to remain available in January and Child Nutrition programs are expected to continue into February, if the shutdown continues.

But the status of WIC, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations is uncertain.

The Department of Agriculture suggested that states will have to turn to local resources if necessary,

we will be maintaining key services we provide to keep people safe. That includes meat, poultry, and processed egg inspection services.

    https://www.salon.com/2018/12/26/shu...by-95-percent/

    food inspections?

even without the shutdown, Trash/Repugs/BigAg had said that BigAg could "inspect itself" which ALWAYS fails.

Shutdown set to extend into new year after Congress punts on budget, border votes

Washington Thursday all but gave up on resolving the partial government shutdown before the New Year,

as lawmakers were told not to expect votes this week and signs of negotiations were nonexistent.

On Capitol Hill, the hallways were quiet and leadership offices were shuttered.

At the White House, President Trump retreated from public view and tweeted recriminations at Democrats.

The standoff over Trump’s demands for funding for his border wall left some 25 percent of the government without funding and

hundreds of thousands of government workers stranded at home,

facing the possibility that they will miss paychecks if the situation continues.

Trump on Thursday blamed Democratic “OBSTRUCTION of the desperately needed Wall.”

House Democrats announced in a press release that, “It’s day 6 of the Trump shutdown, and the impact of the shutdown is becoming more apparent.”

Trump tweet on Thursday claiming most furloughed workers are Democrats

prompted criticism from some Democrats who argued that federal workers are not the partisans the president has made them out to be.

“This is outrageous,” Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.)
    said in a tweet.

“Federal employees don’t go to work wearing red or blue jerseys.

    They’re public servants.

And the President is treating them like poker chips at one of his failed casinos.”

    Latest poll:

47% say Trump is to blame for the shutdown

33% says Dems are to blame.

    Let's boil this down;

33% of Amerikkkans watched Trump in the Oval office tell Chucky and Nancy that he alone was responsible and that he would not blame them. These 33% Amerikkkans saw it with their own eyes and heard it with their own ears.

    Now

Trump tells those 33% Amerikkkans: "who you gonna believe? Me - or your lying eyes and ears?"

Those 33% (many on this board - you know who you are )
still believe Trump over their lying eyes and ears.

How low will Trump go before Republicans flee?

at the onset of the shutdown that “39 percent of registered voters — including 80 percent of Republicans — approved of the president’s job performance,

while 56 percent — including 90 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of independents — did not.”

His numbers in this poll haven’t been this bad since Charlottesville.

    Voters not only blame Trump for the shutdown;

they also think he’ll never get his wall:

Forty-three percent of registered voters said Trump was mostly to blame for the shutdown,

compared with roughly one-third who blamed Democrats and 7 percent who chose Republicans in Congress.

Seventy-three percent of Democrats and a 41 percent plurality of independents blamed Trump for the shutdown,

while about two-thirds of Republican voters said Democrats were mostly to blame.

Sixty-four percent — including 54 percent of Republicans! — think he’s unlikely to get the wall.

‘His leverage is going down — not up’:

GOP consultant admits Trump is losing his shutdown fight

Republican consultant Margaret Hoover told CNN on Thursday that President Donald Trump was losing leverage on a daily basis in his shutdown battle, and

    would inevitably lose.

“There’s just absolutely nothing in our experience that he would ever take the bait to actually act like a real leader in this regard.”

Trump might be in a “win-win position with his most ardent supporters”, but that everyone else loses.

“America loses, the DACA kids lose, the Democrats lose,” she said.

“Look, his leverage is going down, not up.

Every day this goes on, it’s a day closer that Nancy Pelosi takes the gavel in the House of Representatives.”

Trump claims he shut down the government to have a 2020 campaign talking point

His 2020 reelection slogan is “promises made, promises kept.”

    Donald J. Trump
    @realDonaldTrump

    This isn’t about the Wall,

everybody knows that a Wall will work perfectly

(In Israel the Wall works 99.9%).

This is only about the Dems not letting Donald Trump & the Republicans have a win.

They may have the 10 Senate votes,

    but we have the issue,

    Border Security. 2020!

Shutdown Leaves Government Contractors Without Work And Likely No Back Pay

While federal employees will likely get retroactively paid, many contractors will not.

Many government contractors ― from food workers and janitors to security services and computer software developers ― depend on federal funds for their wages.

Since the shutdown, some have seen their jobs
furloughed or have received “stop work orders,”

meaning they’re out of work until the government is up and running again.

    government
contractors in all likelihood will not.

In previous government shutdowns, federal employee salaries were suspended,

but lawmakers later proposed that they get
paid retroactively, even if they weren’t working.

But that hasn’t applied to government contractors in the past,

Democrats weigh options for ending shutdown, and more billions for Trump's wall isn't among them

a senior Republican aide doesn't get what Trump's doing, as

he "can not get out of here without folding in some way,

since he won't be getting the $5 billion he's asking for.

Why isn't he folding before the Dem majority takes over, and before

it seems like he's folding to Pelosi?"

Remember when trump would have rally's and he would get the crowd riled up and say "who's gonna build the wall!" and they'd all shout back "Mexico!!!!"

fast forward to today and all these dummies either have amnesia or are just playing dumb out of spite. when are trump supporters going to grow some cajones and hold him to his promises?

Big Mouth Trump during 2013 government shutdown:

Fire Obama, because ‘problems start from the top’

    Hasselback:

    Who’s getting fired?

Who’s gonna bear the brunt of the responsibility, if indeed there is a shutdown of our government?

    Trump:

Well, if you say who gets fired, it always has to be the top.

I mean, problems start from the top

and they have to get solved from the top and

the president’s the leader and he’s gotta get everyone in a room and he’s gotta lead.

    And, he doesn’t do that,

    he doesn’t like doing that,

    that’s not his strength.

And, that’s why you have this horrible situation going on in Washington.

It’s a very, very bad thing baby talk!

    and it’s very embarrassing worldwide.

Team Trump Gleeful That Shutdown Will Hijack Pelosi’s Big Moment

The president’s aides see a debate being waged on his issues, not hers, and they couldn’t be happier.

President Donald Trump and his close allies have begun feeling more confident about the political perch they occupy.

In their eyes, a prolonged stalemate will likely fracture voters along traditional partisan lines, and

the ultimate outcome will be a debate waged largely on the president’s terms.

Increasingly, they see an upside in forcing likely incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi to have to spend the first days, if not weeks, of the next Congress

engaged in an argument over border wall funding rather than her preferred agenda:

a mix of sweeping ethics and

    election reforms and

    congressional oversight.

And they continue to believe that

a conversation around immigration and border security is in the president’s best political interests.

Dems must Never Give An Inch

When Trash's base starts suffering from penalties, "payment declined", $37 overdraft fee, evictions, foreclosures, repossessions, it will be

"in the president’s best political interests."

My bet? The Dems will fold
