Maybe if the Rockets sign Harden the equation changes, but I don’t see how a case can be made today that the Spurs are worse (or in worse shape) than Houston.

I presume Barkley was counting on their getting Harden back. They may also assemble a package for KAT. That would put them ahead in 2023-24 as a 7-8 seed and completely screw them medium-to-long term.
