Surely no one expects him to play pg?

I watched him all year and he is not a good ball handler at all. He is a scorer though once confidence kicks in. He plays really hard. I don’t know who he supposed to D up on though… A strong physical guard will push him around. Weight room at 25… ? hmmmm….

The BS about UT choking to Miami is laughable. UT was without their best player by far (Playing incredibly well into the Big12 and NCAA tournament.) When he was a no go, UT could not play against solid teams. He was averaging close 20 pts per game late season with double digit rebounds. He was huge in UTs late season winning streak.

Reality: UT got out to a good lead with incredible shooting 1st half and huge effort in the Miami game. No fkn way that was gonna last with the UT rotation and missing their big guy.
Miami was the better team. They wore UT out.

Nice. Get my boy Sir’Jabari some reps tbh. Wanna see how he looks out there. Not a great athlete, but a very smart and seasoned player who’s also a great outside shooter. Hopefully he gets some open opportunities to showcase his abilities. Also interested to see how he looks defensively.

also possesses leadership qualities so its no surprise why spurs would go after him. definitely pop kind of guy.

Proud of my guy tbh. He showed he belongs. His impact was greater than his stat line indicates. He also showed his PG capabilities, as well as some solid defense in his limited minutes. Looking forward to seeing him in Austin and potentially SA this season.

He does NOT look 6’4. More like 6 flat.

    Looks smooth as though

Lol nah he’s definitely 6’4 or 6’3 at worst. Here he is beside 6’7 Christian Bishop, 6’6 Timmy Allen, and 6’2 Marcus Carr.

Damn straight I will hold his wineglass.
And I will take every bottle he owns and hide them. So his brain wont fog further.

Rice is very mature. Very good locker room guy but he is off guard. You press him he will have trouble, unless its for short sub time.
He is very streaky and can score in bunches.
In college he was a good off the ball defender but got handled against big guys 1 v 1.
He will not quit. He plays hard.

kinda like I said previously. I think the more wide open NBA game will definitely suit him better offensively as long as he does not have to create consistently off the dribble.
Defensively... he will try but I dont know if his anticipation getting in passing lanes and coming on double teams translates.
And his shot fake was unGodly in college.

I said this before I saw him. He has better offensive awareness than, well, Wesley, but Wesley has about as close to zero as I've ever seen.

Hopefully he gets leave to play in the NBA summer leagues. He should be able to hook onto some decent league this fall.

We may bring in players at the 35 and 48 picks this year if we get the prospects we like. Chomche, Ajay Mitc , are a couple that come to mind. As noted, Wesley may be on his last year with Spurs and others are going to be on the bubble this year or next. I see enough potential roster attrition to keep bringing in new 2RPs until some stick.

    This take aged very poorly

Not sure what our possible 2nd picks have to do with Rice - who is no longer with the team - or Wesley, who is signed to a guaranteed contract not 2- Way like Duke Jr., Gray and Bouyea.

Don't Sochan, Wesley, and Branham have another team option the Spurs can exercise after this season? No one on the roster with exception of Wembanyama and probably Vassell are safe from being moved, IMO.

I definitely don't think only Wesley is on the proverbial 'chopping block,' but it seems like a lot members of ST have hard-on for dropping him. Even though he vastly improved last season (obviously his rookie season was horrendous, so he could only go up) and was the only willing/adequate (potential good) defensive guard on our roster.

Spurs have to exercise the year 4 option BEFORE this season. It’s awkward if they don’t, because he’s guaranteed for this cmng season already, but would go a year knowing he wasn’t in their plans.
