I’m in on Ajay Mitc .
There are still a lot of players who could turn into useful role player for Spurs:
- SG/SF who are good shooters and have a legit size: Johnny Furphy, Cameron Christie, Justin Edwards, Pelle Larson and Jaylen Wells.
- Stretch PF: Bobi Klintman and Tyler Smith.
- Defensive minded C who could replace Collins down the road: Adem Bona and Ulrich Chomche.
There are also some skilled players like Kyle Filipowski and Kevin McCullar Jr. who are more all-around players.
It obviously isn't as important as yesterday but it isn't meaningless (provided Spurs don't trade their picks...).
My prediction is Cam Christie at 35
Adem Bona would be a fun pick, our Summer league with Castle, Sidy, and Bona would be a handful defensively lol
Furphy is a clear fit. another attempt at a good Champagnie. he may not make it to 35
I like Tyler Smith
though not as clear a fit, Djurisic is really intriguing. his shooting has gotten better, but his main value comes as a driver, which would work better on a team that had... shooters
My guy is Furphy, he should have gone in the late teens imo, but I think he'll be gone.
I don't think they'll go for a guard like Mitc or Kolek. They'll look for off-ball shooters. All these are SGs but that's okay:
Pelle Larson
Cam Spencer
Tristan Newton
Cam Christie
They're all old other than Christie. Spencer is already 24! May not even be drafted, and Newton is also 23, but I want one of these players. They're smart, can do many things, are great shooters.
Of course no idea what this team does minute by minute.
I’m on the Kyle Filipowski train for #35. Backup PF is a sneaky need for this team right now, and Filipowski was widely considered Duke’s best player for much of the season until McCain emerged late. He was projected to be a top 5 pick prior to the season. He’s got great size, is mobile, can shoot from the perimeter, and play in the post. As a second round pick with no guaranteed contract involved, he’d be great value.
Fun fact: he was being recruited by Harvard to play for their team before he became too good at basketball and they realized he was out of their league. So they referred him to Duke instead. (His brother plays at Harvard now, though)
Yeah I really like Furphy as I love his size and shooting and rebounding for SG - Tyler Smith I think has some upsides to a good PF/C - Cam Christie is intriguing with his shooting- Djurisic is a cat I like as I like his handles and can do a little bit of everything
In the end though I guessing it is going to be Melvin Ajinca - Viva France
Well what are the odds we keep one or both of these picks? Seems like we need to be mentally preparing for that.
However, seems like there are at least 5 good prospects that would be nice second round flyers also.
However, if the Spurs see closer to 20 worthwhile fliers, we may do the same thing as last year and only pick at 48.
I would like Kolek if Tre Jones wasn't already on the team.
Yeah, I think the team is very high on Jones and is happy with the PG rotation right now.
To be honest I think Kolek if there should get serious consideration. Tre Jones is here for 1 more year, he could also be a valuable trade piece at the deadline. Or Kolek himself could be an asset to trade. Worst case he’s insurance for Castle and a long term backup at a cheap price.
After the drama last night I totally forgot we even have 2 2nd round picks. Lets hope they draft at least 1.
Lol come on man
shouldnt dissuade them. tre is on an expiring deal. made all kinds of sense to re-sign him when he was the de facto starter. not sure its going to be worth paying him again if this time he's expected to be the backup
I don't think #35 and any number of future 2nds will get you Furphy.
i hope they draft 2. whoever is picked at 35 gets a real contract, the later pick can be a 2 way guy
I guarantee the morons will sell #35![]()
kolek over tre jones easily....Kolek who is a pg who can pass and shoot...His pick and roll would be great with wemby.
Hes undersized and not athletic,But still a much better pg then tre.
of course it would
OKC got the #26 overall pick yesterday in exchange for 5 future second rounders
Furphy, Cam Christie, and Tyler Smith all make a ton of sense for this team. So you can pretty much guarantee they won't be getting any of those guys![]()
Not to say anything about Dillon Jones. I really don't know. But it feels like OKC is reaching their "We gotta spend this somehow" stage.
There is a lot of value in this draft at 35 and even 48. I agree, I hope they take some.
Drop a few SRPs in Toronto's lap, take the Aussie, then use the 48 for either the UConn guy from El Paso or the UConn guy who played for Rutgers.
