Another week, another nothingburger lib outrage
    ok let's stipulate that, arguendo

why do government officials communicate/coordinate over Signal at all? they're doing official stuff ...

Hegseth's DOD issued a warning about using Signal last week; even if you don't think tipping US war plans and locker room talk about the Europeans to the liberal press is any bfd, at least you can admit the DOD and the CIA and the DNI are not putting their best foot forward

what a complete show. Hesgeth and Waltz are incompetent buffoons

based on Pete's prior Fox news ramblings he should be immediately fired and charged for this gaffe
Oh, please, when SoS Hillary Clinton let that big shot over in the Middle East get ate alive and dragged thru the streets for an evening it was no big deal, JK.

    Same thing here.

UK spies fear intelligence leaks after Trump team blunder

British security officials have “deep-rooted fears” about sharing intelligence with the US following a leak of classified information by Donald Trump’s national security team on an unsecured messaging app.

They say higher restrictions are now likely to be placed on some intelligence material sent to US counterparts which will be distributed on a strictly “need to know” basis to trusted contacts, rather than more widely circulated.

In an unprecedented security breach, the editor-in-chief of US magazine The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, was accidentally included in an 18-member chat group on Signal – an encrypted messaging app – containing members of Trump’s national security team including Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Peter Hesgeth.

Like your side did when that American Big Shot over in the Middle East had his junk cut off and he was dragged in the streets for an evening. Hillary Clinton the resident SoS hung up the phone on him when he called asking for help.

No big deal then. None whatsover, Spurm.

...not me, nor the old man. And you don't have to worry about me changing my tune. I wouldn't budge for money, marbles, nor chalk.

The old man? Well, this is a little akin to that (both sides) moment back in '17. Let's watch him. He didn't fold then, uh, uh.

And he'd better not in fold nowPERIOD

why do government officials communicate/coordinate over Signal at all?
Government officials might choose to communicate over Signal for a few practical reasons. Signal is known for its end-to-end encryption, which means messages are scrambled and only readable by the sender and recipient—no one else, not even Signal itself, can peek in. This is appealing for sensitive discussions, especially when dealing with classified info or national security matters where leaks could be disastrous.

It’s also fast and reliable, which matters when decisions need to be made quickly. Unlike email, which can get bogged down in formalities or hacked more easily, Signal offers a direct, secure line. Plus, it’s not tied to government servers, so it’s less likely to be swept up in mass surveillance or FOIA requests—though that can cut both ways, depending on transparency expectations.

Some might use it to dodge accountability, sure, but that’s not unique to Signal—any private chat app could serve that purpose. Mostly, it’s about control: officials want to manage who sees what and when, especially in a world where cyber threats are constant and public scrutiny is intense. Whether that’s always a net positive for governance is up for debate.

Big JD correctly advised not bombing because that shipping lane isn't important to the USA, China and the Euro's need it. Waltz and Pete argued for it. We know the old man is susceptible to neocon advice...but they swore they had changed their ways, so we gave them a chance. Waltz should hang for his alleged mistake, Pete gets one more chance to shape up.

This isn't about libs thinking they got'em, they can't get'em. It's about keeping the ranks pure.
