Where are the final 4s played? Are they usually played in different places each year?
I think San Antonio just gets really quality Final Fours lol
Last visit in 2008 was all #1s too and the first time ever. Strange recurrence this year is back, hosted in SA again and got all four #1s
For the first time (and the only time until the 2025 tournament) since seeding began in 1979, all four of the top seeds advanced to the 2008 Final Four.
Where are the final 4s played? Are they usually played in different places each year?
Yes. They pick the sites a few years beforehand, and this year, it’s San Antonio. They tried to cut us out a few years back, but all of the fans love coming here this time of year, and they pitched a fit, so we’re back in the rotation.
Apparently the suits don't like exterior shots of the goofy looking Alamodome.
Looking forward to seeing how many times a local SA reporter can ask Cooper Flagg some variation of if he's thought about being drafted by the Spurs/what it would be like to be paired with Wemby/etc
That, and it’s an old and dated facility, no matter how many times it’s been refreshed. Just another good reason to vote for the new bball arena downtown. It would secure a spot in the FF rotation for a couple of decades.
Is the FF played in the old Spurs Alamodome configuration with the curtain, or is the full stadium like they did for that Warriors game?
Do they host other FF's in basketball-specific arenas?
These are things I've just never really paid attention to before.
Coogs vs future Spur Flagg. Must watch semi that should’ve been the le game if the committee would’ve given Duke their one overall seed like they should’ve.
Other than the spurs trading up for flagg what are the real chances?
No one is trading Flagg, but if we stay at 8, pre-lottery, our chances at #1 are 6%. OTOH, our chances at Wemby were only14%, and we hit that.
There's a better chance of winning the lottery than trading for Flagg.
Ok good stuff thank you both.
I understand the potential for better schools to poach some players, but I’m not seeing how this doesnt also help mid tier schools attract players who are looking to bemore of a center piece who would have otherwise been just a role player at a top tier school. Am i missing something?
Give Coop a look at his future home.
Well, they’d be role players in a major school for a reason. The mid tiers may catch a late boomer once in a while but it just means the odds are stacked against them. Not to mention your need multiple hits at the same time to be able to make it to the final four.
Texas S Carolina starting now on ESPN
Anyone supporting the Longhorns? Madison Booker wearing #35 in burnt orange basketball uniforms is a nod to the past. SC ran their mouth and I like Dawn but the hush gesture commercials are a big check you better cover now.
UCONN UCLA after wards. Lauren Betts is a formidable force but Paige Bueckers has some Curry esque shooting physics. Shots hit the rim with very little continuing momentum. Some good Final Four stuff this weekend.
way too bad about Juju though and not happy about the hit job from Miss St on that one
City of San Antonio looking very NICE this weekend in the media with the Final Four Mens Games coverage plus the Valero Open going on right now. Was watching that on TV weather looks warm and that's a real nice course up there by La Cantera, right?
What else do they use this facility for? only the Spurs? Outside of this final 4 of course
it’s a beautiful course over there
The concerts downtown tonight got rained out lol. Weather is tonight unfortunately. Supposed to rain into tomorrow morning as well and then just be overcast and humid the rest of the day.
Man, Clayton might make it to the league
Talkathon has him going #43, his stock has got to be rising. Broome doesn't look like he'll transition.
