We also used to have cool arcade games and a forum for the Pistons and...a bunch of stuff that honestly would not help this forum function better tbh.

Shoutout to whoever the old Arcade winners were

Seriously though, the owners of this site are doing all of this out of their own time and mostly out of their own pocket, so maybe y'all should calm down a bit during the dog days of summer

that last paragraph of glazing is why nothing gets done. This isnt just a summer thing, it’s gradually getting worse. This website was literally down for nine hours. There is no telling that months from now the website could be down for longer than that because there is no communication. That’s a sign of no appreciation for the people who use it. The community makes spurstalk, not the other way around. If spurstalk doesn’t respect its community enough to improve its environment, it will leave.

Probably unpopular, but I used the Contact link on the forum selection bar, and suggested that they turn off search again. In a 22 year old forum with likely millions of posts running 22 year old software, search will bog you down in a major way. Other suggestions were to limit functionality of guests, or possibly archive off more older posts.

Didn't realize there was arcade games. Wasn't there also a Kings forum (if so, what was the reason for the Kings forum?)?

Reminds me when the Spurs were still playing "Y'all Ready for This" still in 2003. This forum is still on version 4 of vBulletin which hasn't been supported for almost ten years now.

"In late 2017, a post by Technical Support Lead, Wayne Luke, confirmed that vBulletin 3 and vBulletin 4 were now considered to be "End of Life" software, with no further development of the series planned."

vBulletin 4 is "Y'all Ready for This".

This is how I open Spurstalk these days. I don't ever go outside this subforum, no need to.
Everything else should be archived and as you said search should be disabled.

I think botting/ddos is the issue because how else to explain the site working perfectly at some hours and then going down randomly.
It was fine during the draft when the number of actual humans browsing it was the highest.

OK, thanks. I just went there. I never go to that page. Usually just open the forum with the page Lebowen mentioned in his post below.

Interesting. I just looked at the forums page, so you might be right about what is going on. I can't see there being 13K active users currently.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you spend your time and hard-earned money creating this forum? Are you paying for this ?

Not saying everything is perfect. The servers have been whack lately. But have some respect for the people who made this place available in the first place and are basically doing it as a favor to the Spurs community. They don't owe you anything.

SpursTalk adopted a lot of Pistons fans after 2005 Finals because they didn't have a great forum of their own.

Same thing kinda happened with the Kings fans in the 2006 Playoffs, but didn't last as long.

And the ddos is likely due to the nonsense in the Political forum. I doubt there are internet troll/bot farms who give a about shutting down discourse about the Spurs - but the Political forum (for whatever reason) draws attention from s bags across the nation who don't GAF about the Spurs or the NBA at all. It should be jettisoned into the dark web.

tbh, people in here are literally volunteering to pay for this , but we can't even get the owners of this site to engage in a discussion about it.

Can we at least kick around .com domain name suggestions if it comes down to someone (NOT ME) standing up a new message board. houston.com is already taken.

Exactly. I was going to mention this in my post, but I didn’t. Simping for people who don’t care about you is idiotic. They did spend time and money once upon a time but that was forever ago. All that good will should be gone. They’ve moved on and soon people here will too.

As a recovering user, I can vouch. It’s a cancer that needs to be removed.
