Odom is hardly Mr. Consisitency, but the Lakers are tough when he plays like this.

Exactly. As great as Kobe is, you know he's going to get his. But when Odom's game is on...he usually has a great all-around game, with not just the points, but also the rebounding and assists.

BTW, is this stat really true: Billups 4-12 from 3point land. He really attempted 12 three pointers?!

Prince isn't involved offensively. That has led to some forced shots and a decline in defense.
I read a quote by him recently where he flat out said that it's hard for the rest of the team to get their offense going when Billups and Hamilton dominate the ball so much. Sounded like there was some friction going on there....

Hopefully Odom gets traded in the offseason. He's a fun player to watch ... but his game doesn't mesh well with Kobe.

Kobe just led the Lakers to back-to-back wins scoring 42 points one night and 40 points the next night, one of the opposing teams being the team with the best record in the NBA ...
and he did it while having a sinus infection, he's sick as a dog.

    That's an MVP

My night is complete now with Duncan going for 22, UNC beating Duke and a Pistons L.

But on the real looks like all those minutes the starters are playing for Det. is starting to catch up.

Well Flip runs about 75% of the set plays for Hamilton. The Pistons had a killer play under LB where Prince would set a low screen and then postup right around the basket.

I haven't seen them run that play once this year.

So the Pistons lost to Denver, then almost lost to the lowly Sonics, then lost to the Lakers.

    Are there problems?
Flip's freestyle offense looks to be backfiring right now. They seem to be taking too many jump shots as someone mentioned especially 3s. Sheed rarely goes inside. I don't think I have seen hamilton drive for a layup. Billups is in love with pullup/dribble 3. Prince is just free lancing out there. Big Ben is probably the only one attacking the basket.

When those jump shots aren't falling and they keep taking them, you are going to lost more often than not.

can someone please explain to me how the Pistons can be 3rd in points per game allowed at 89.2 but be more middle of the pack in opponent FG% allowed at 44.5%?

It gets tiring on the road. The Lakers play well enough defensively to beat anybody on a given night. The Pistons just didn't have it in the 4th qtr. and keeping up with Kobe isn't easy to do even when you're rested.

Spurs fans shouldn't get all giddy and stuff. The Spurs got next against a confident team, now.

please pull your head out of your ass and make an actual arguement why kobe isn't the MVP. How about Steve Nash is playing better.

Efficient offense will equal less shots for the opponent. Therefore creating lower scoring.

Exactly. I think this is a good example of Flip not being able to make adjustments during a game like Pop can. Ben had a bad rebounding game by only getting 5 rebounds. But yes, the Pistons take way too many jumpers. I've heard the argument from Piston fans that even though they take alot of jumpers, they tighten up their defense when the game is close. Well it didn't work this time.

    Pistons are mortal after all.

I believe they lead the league in PPG at about 102 and also they lead the league in point differential at around 8.2 per game.

True. Especially since Duncan is not back to normal and Kwame Brown is supposedly making an impact with his man defense in the low post. Our guard penetration and outside shooting will be key. And Bowen will have to do a number on Kobe.

"This road trip finally ends. The pistons will have three days off, get some rest and please watch tapes and find out that's happening with this team."

It is called coming back to earth - the Pistons are still a formidable team but were never as fearsome as the media or many made them out to be.

They are the same team as last year, with a coach who still has proved nothing.

Respect the Pistons highly yes - fear them no, if Spurs health same or better, and especially if they get home court advantage - no worries it would be a great series that could go either way but my money remains on the Spurs.

The amount of threes they shot (20 between R. Wallace and Billips) had to do with fatigue. Long road trip. Back to back. Their lack of bench will hurt in the long run.

flip saunders showed before that he couldn't give the necessary intensity for the championship to his team. that was the main reason behind minnesota's first-round failures. and this year when the play-off time when the tough ones succeed comes, i'm sure saunders and detroit will fail again.
and today i saw that derek anderson joined miami's rotation and contributed to the victory against atlanta. now miami's second five is payton - d. anderson - s. anderson - walker - mourning. i think miami will be a more dangerous opponent for us at the playoffs.
